As with other games being cleaned up so that active games have more visibility, GW2 is also bound to go through the same process.

dMw interest in the game dwindled, with only 3-4 players coming online regularly.
Regrettably, Colin (the previous game director) made some very bad choices with regards to HoT, which resulted in the game adopting a very negative vibe.  He was recently sacked, and the president of Arenanet Mike O'Brien himself took over the job.  The patch from a couple of weeks ago shifted the direction of the game from negative to positive - Said patch was under the eye of MO, as he's called in short.

Whether this remains, I do not know.  I do hope so.

As far as GW2 activity and people playing, you'll find me and the missus playing on a near daily basis.  I work on a shift basis so gaming times are not the same as an 8-5 job, and we do go out.

GW2 in intrinsically different from other MMOs.  To compare, WoW is passive gameplay, where you just move around and click on endless buttons, whilst mitigation is an already applied mechanic.
On the other hand, GW2 is active gameplay, you have to constantly be aware of your positioning, the movements of your enemies, and reposition yourself so that you use the 10 skills (5 skills depend on the weapons equipped, 5 skills are selected from the class pool you are playing) you have available in the best possible way.  As for mitigation, the player is wholly responsible for that.  If you don't want to get damage, the player himself needs to dodge out of the way.
Admittedly, This sort of gameplay does not appeal to everyone.

As for people wanting challenging content.  Raiding is fun, and is hard.  To compare, the complexity of WoW vanilla raids pale in comparison.  GW2 raiding typically wipes should 1-2 people out of 10 die.  People in light armour tanking is also the norm for some fights.  Kreuz would be well suited.

So in the end, whether the GW2 section is on the front of the forum, or stacked in the boat that doesn't float, we'll be playing.
If you want to join, you're welcome.  If you want to learn, I'll teach you.  If not, perhaps you'll teach me some other game yourself.

Until then,
