So I've been reading this and found it refreshing that the devs in the article are a) not just touting their latest project (ok some are a bit) and b) most of the recommendations are not the games that most of us would have chosen.

I'm considering picking up a few that I wasn't aware of in celebration of 2016:

ABZÛ - Amazing looking diving game.
Quadrilateral Cowboy - Hacking game, nice look very retro but story based.
Thumper - Insane racing game with VR support coming that is really winning a lot of praise everywhere right now.
Firewatch - 1st person mystery
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes - Crazy game where other people have to talk one player how to diffuse a bomb
Inside - Dark atmospheric platfomer

Anyone got any other not so obvious recommendations from the long list of new games from 2016?
Cheers, Bert

Ive played through firewatch and really enjoyed it....good storyline and a few puzzles (nothing majorly taxing) but graphics were excellent.   If you can get it for decent price then worth it.  Probably only took me about 5-6 hrs in total to complete though so not a great deal of life in it (hence the worthwhile if can pick it up cheap)

I bought ABZÛ last night and started it up intending to just see how it looked. An hour later I had to pull myself off the PC to bed.

If you like games that are just different, this that and also looks beautiful.

Is Abzu the one by some of the people that worked on Journey? I didn't play many games on the PS3 but Journey was a lovely game and I'd love to find another similar game
