Huge thanks to all who have answered the survey so far. If you haven't, and you attend the LANs, please take a few minutes today to go through and give us your thoughts.

Once we have closed it off and had a chance to discuss the results as a group, we will post up some of the results and our thoughts on them, and how we are looking to implement changes as we go along.

Hi guys, thanks to all who have completed the survey so far. We are going to close it on TUESDAY, two weeks after it went up.

We will give you guys some of the results soon after, so you have some idea of how the community are voting as a whole.

We won't be going into things at length publicly though, as there is a lot we need to discuss further behind the scenes before deciding what steps to take next.

Cheers, and please do complete the survey if you have not done so already! :yahoo:

Hi all. We wanted to bring you some results from the recent LAN survey.

These come with a heavy disclaimer. We are only sharing select bits of information here and their interpretation may differ when viewed as one cog in a bigger machine, rather than in isolation. We hope these results give you some idea as to why we make certain decisions, but know that we have much more information to digest and think on overall.

Your feedback really helps, and we have collected a lot of it! We will try to make what changes we can to both keep the LANs fresh and direct them in the way the majority wants. We do try to consider the more minority opinions too, but sometimes it can be difficult to please both, and we have to decide one way or another.

Finally, again I'd like to mention the support of the hotel. If they didn't give us the function room for free, discount the room rates, or let us bring in the odd bit of outside food (pizza nights and kebabs, for example) the LAN costs would skyrocket and the overall enjoyment of the weekend would likely take a hit. We repay this generosity with things like steak night (a win for both us and them, if you ask me) and by buying drinks and food at the bar over the weekend. We've got a good thing with the OC and we want to keep that going!

OK, on to the info. Some of it did surprise me! Like I've said, the 3 of us admins will be taking a further and more detailed look soon, and then working together and with the hotel to try and make improvements where we can.

Ranking the LAN tournaments.

We wanted to get a feel of how the various tournaments are going down, to help us look at where we can make improvements to both individual tournaments and the games played over the weekend. Below are the average scores over all 40 votes. 5 would be a perfect score, and 1 absolute rubbish.

Counter Strike 5v5
Average score - 4.175

Deagle 2v2
Average score - 4.025

Both CS and Deagle score well. Although we are working on how to further improve things like tournament structure, timings, and team balance, these tournaments are clearly popular LAN staples.

Overwatch 6v6
Average score - 3.275

Our lowest score, but still a fair way above the mid point of 2.5. There is more to statistics than just this average*, remember, and we will be looking at the numbers in more detail behind the scenes to best shape the LANs going forwards.

Retro Tournament
Average score - 3.95

Social Tournament
Average score - 3.925

Friday Night Tournament
Average score - 3.8

These three events change LAN to LAN, but it's good to know they are going down well overall. Again, it's something we want to continue to improve and looking at the more detailed numbers and your comments helps us do that.

*Keep in mind that even if half of you hate an event, if the other half absolutely love it the average score would come out near 2.5. We may choose to keep such an event going in the interest of those that love it. It is often a bit of a balancing act.

Food, drink, and other stuff.

More than 50% of you like pizza.

We like sorting some food on Saturday, it's convenient for those that join in and doesn't detract anything from those that don't. Although we aren't sure exactly what we will be doing in October, we will try to sort something out.

More than 80% of you like beer.

Shocking, I know. We will be opening sponsorship for barrels up when we open booking, and would encourage you to get down to the London Beer Festival if you fancy trying a few new brews to suggest as LAN barrels.

10% want a unique steak for Friday night.

Much like the pizza, this isn't something that detracts from those of you happy to order from the regular menu, so it's something we will try to organise for October. No guarantees, but we will do what we can.

Almost 60% would be interested in a beer and cheese event.

As above, really! For those that are keen, this could be a bit of fun to try and is something that we are working on behind the scenes.

Over 90% may be interested in some merchandise.

Right then, best get some dMw themed purses and fanny packs sorted ASAP.

Of those who have been to one of the smaller LANs, more than 90% of you like the horseshoe set up with the TV in the middle.

This is great, but we will be looking at how we can get that number to 100% come next May. If not we will just shove you all in the rainy car park and strop.

And that's all for now folks. I hope this is interesting to some of you, and maybe gives you a bit of an insight as to why we want to do these surveys and why the LANs go the way they do. We are always open for more input from the community, if you've got something you'd like to add or something you think we can do better, drop me or one of the other LAN admins a line and we can talk it through.

Cheers!
