Yes, new map = new characters. Later on when everyone's levelled up we can decide about cross-ark travel and opening up the world to old characters etc but we always start virgin.

So, please, try not to look at YouTube videos and the like and let's play and explore this like a totally brave new world. We spawn where we spawn together and work together for the couple of weeks it takes us to be able to spread.

Finally, we will start the map at a specific time on a specific day and see if we can get everyone together. This may involve teleporting everyone to the group leader and making them tribe members and this is the one and only time it will happen.

As everyone says, the first week or so when everyone is nekkid and afraid are amongst the most fun in this game. Let's capitalise on that. We can't stop people levelling up at vastly different speeds but it is what it is.

okay so as a newbie to ark if say i've just purchased the 3.99 base game, how do i connect to dmw ppl? is there a server ip i need, do i need to buy the season pass too?

but basically search within the server page for Dmw (or variant thats mentioned) and one of the kind admins will whitelist you for the server and you'll get access, at the moment the previous iterations of Ark have been hibernated in preparation for the new map.  If you wanna jump on to a random map at somepoint then can do so with you bud to just go over few things before the new one drops

It's similar to most of the games we play. We'll throw up a server and whitelist everyone who wants to play. Then we spawn in, meet up and create a clan. From there we tend to play together (it's tough early days) and build up a base, tame some dinos then spend the rest of our lives feeding them.

I'd just go for the base game first. For the price of a cup of coffee it's well worth it.

It's not a complicated game and you'll get the mechanics in the first 10 minutes. Besides which, of course, we'll all there an on-hand to help with any queries. It's not exactly fast-paced which is why we like it.

It's 120GB drive space required for the base game so bare that in mind. Also it's worth being very selective over which DLC you install as it can add lots more drive space consumption if you just tick all the DLC for this one.

Like Albert says, we're all excited for the new content Gunda, but STEAM is NOT the cheapest place to get its just over half price at CDKEYS at this link[AT TIME OF WRITING] so yeah. It'd be great if you get a taste for Vanilla Ark anyway, the base game is gorgeous and offers a myriad of things to do! (Like, survive lol)
