I got it from humble as been waiting for this. 100G + download though and living in the sticks means it is taking a while to get installed. Might be on tonight hopefully.

If it's anywhere near as boring as it is on console they should sell it with a pillow. :getmecoat:
God of War on the other hand. Now that's a game.

And to save this feeling like spam, RDR2 is basically a lot of meandering around on a horse, then getting bored and shooting someone before meandering around on a horse. Imagine GTA with one car, in Ipswich.

Love the visuals you use Benny thanks for the review

Sith and Galatoni are having starting up issues with the game and I'm having freezing issues, yes the game starts off in a snowy world but not sure what this is...
Also the controls seem to be a bit odd... I can't really comment any further just yet although more than Gal and Sith
Survivor of LAN V, VI, VIII, IX, X, XII, XIV, XVI, XVIII, XX, XXIV, XXX, XXXII, XXXIV and XXXVI so far...

Aparently it was a buggy release, who'd have thought, that has/is being fixed with a patch

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Chaosphere

Yeah, it's getting slammed as another fairly low effort console port. Shame.

I'm planning to wait a few more months until the (historically very active) mod community have 'fixed it', and hopefully by then be able to pick it up for a bit less to boot.

I'm looking forward to playing the game, enjoying the world and the story, but just like with the absolute aberration that is The Outer World's on PC*, it's a shame to see developers care so little about the platform 'in this day and age'.

*An apt comparison as I thoroughly enjoyed the game despite the technical mess, but then I only paid £1 for that privilege...

Install finished and working fine for me. 4 hour session last night on the Story mode and so far I think it is brilliant and what I was hoping for from a wild west game. I have yet to try the online mode so I can't comment on this yet.

My first thoughts are. This is really, really pretty game and loving the details of it, although be warned you need a good graphics card and set up to get the most out of it. I kept stopping in mid quest to admire the scenery and details which I am really impressed by. With the NPC moaning at me to hurry up.

The story line is also really enjoyable and detailed with a good learning curve in to your character and setting the scene for things to come. The game play is slow, and I can understand why some would not like that, but for me it allows me to soak up the whole experience and absorb it all, and I think it adds to the reality of the game and how life was at that time.

I do have a few issues with it though.

One major thing is the controls on keyboard and mouse are not great with the camera seem to have a mind of it's own. I fixed this by switching to my Xbox controller and playing around with camera settings. But for certain situations like a shoot out I hate using a controller for it as it is slow in aiming like all FPS games are with a controller (in my opinion) so I found that I kept swapping from one to the other. This is a very similar way I did with GTA V, when driving around was easy with controller but then gun fights, the keyboard and mouse was much nicer to use.

Another issue is the amount of different buttons and commands in play that are needed for say change weapon or draw a weapon from the horse / saddle or how to loot and take things etc. This may become easier the more I play it, and might be more a case of my inability to play games well, but I did find it frustrating when I had to keep stopping to try and work out what button did what. This is even more confusing on the controller which added to my previous issue makes it even more annoying. Again this may get easier the more I play it.

Other than the control issues mentioned by Gortex, I've been enjoying the game and had no bugs to deal with.  Well worth the money to me.

Got started in the game today and it is a world away from GTAV in terms of online loading and smoothness, far far better.

Looks amazing, characters are well written and the depth of the game is looking very good.

Runs fine on a 1080ti.
Cheers, Bert

Wow I'm glad to see more people playing this, I've been playing Online since (I managed to get it to)Launch.

I created a persistent posse but it's nothing like a guild.

I hope to see you all on this sometime it's insanely good fun just BEING in the world of RDR2 online.

My favourite thing to do which I didn't expect to enjoy is the Trader career path, I've got all three of the careers but this one pays well and is interesting and fun to do as a team,
Galatoni was paid half the wages last night for a 25 goods delivery, making him $39-ish and ahem, $75'ish for me lol

ALSO Don't miss the poker table it is incredibly enjoyable, and if you're not that trash at poker, an incredible source of income.

Catch you pardners later!

I am poised to dive into this with the Ultimate Edition..... I love cowboy stuff....... that came out wrong. Anyway I'm just doing my standard 24 hour 'wait for it sanity check' before dropping £75 on a game

It is cheaper on CDKeys Smilo, and I refrain to sway your decision in any way but if you are indeed a fan of cowboys this is the definitive cowboy presence on PC I would say.

I own the ultimate and I spent the gold bars on the "dlc" in online mode, which takes the form of 3 career paths, the collector, trader, or bounty hunter they cost 15 bars each, and getting those 50bars meant a £20 I didn't have to dump on the game after purchase, which for me was very lucrative. I also used the remaining 5 bars to fast track a purchase of a bow and fishing rod once I reached the appropriate rank.

AND, you earn gold bars or nuggets during online play at a not disrespectful rate!
I hope that helps inform the decision, since the ultimate edition carries online benefits not just single player benefits.
(ALSO, the ultimate comes with a decent horse which is DARN expensive online otherwise)

If you're not that keen on online play you don't need the ultimate edition :D

I imagine they've patched many of the launch issues by now, although I haven't looked into it. I just started Metro as part of the Xbox PC Gamepass. When that's done I'll probably look towards this.. hopefully bit cheaper then too :)
