For a GATSO I suppose basically you have to be going fast enough to be outside the grid 0.5 seconds after the first flash. I'm not sure at which point the first flash occurs but I do know they are 0.5 seconds apart.

BigFatCat

Top Gear had to thrash a TVR through the GATSO about 171 to avoid being caught.
Whoosh

I'd have no problem with some form of restest after a prolonged period but what gets me is the untaxed, uninsured and probably already disqualifed tw*ts who have nothing to lose and any innocents caught up in their accidents are fair game.

and people who drive BMWs..... :angry:

and women in SUVs who can't see over the wheel but as long as their kids don't have to walk to school..... :angry:

More traffic police, less cameras and more common sense and courtesy :eyebrow:  when driving.

1. Going (mind on other stuff) to see my ill dad who lived 100 miles away i got caught doing 38 in a 30 £60 3 points.

wait for it.
5 weeks later.

2.Doing 34 in a 30 comming back from His funeral another £60 and 3 points.

 so imo there crap burn the lot of em!!!! :angry:

Cant remember the last time i went over 70 on the motorway always got the family in the car .So not iam not what you call a speed freek.

nice numbers there...
60mph is about 100kmh which is about 28m/s so 120mph is about 56m/s plus say you take 0.5 seconds to react, another 0.5 seconds to put your foot on the brake pedal, and then decelerate evenly at 14m/s/s (lose 14 m/s each second)

60mph = 28m reaction(1s) + 28m braking(2s) = 56m in 3s
120mph = 56m reaction(1s) + 112m braking(4s) = 168m in 5s

of course to work out real braking distances you'd need to know the actual deceleration rate, whether or not the tyres lose traction and start to skid etc. Basically,  the braking distance goes up rapidly with speed (it's not a linear thing...)

so both of em killed the kid then  :(

Whitey

Yep and what the hell was the kid doing in the fast lane of the motorway anyway!!  :devil:

I had fun today, some TANGO i had the misfortune of sharing a road with for a large part of my return journey from devon today developed a habit of sitting in the left hand lane at and roundabout/junction, then, wait for it, GOING RIGHT!

I lost count of the amount of times he cut straight across the front of me, and other vehicles. Surely its common sense, you're going right, so u start on the RIGHT? NO?  :angry:  :angry:

Whilst we're on the topic of speed and associated sins, is now a good time to mention that I saw an amazing car last night?  A member of the Lexus Owners Club dropped round to see me with some maintenance manuals for my car (GS300) on CD and I got to see his car - he has a Toyota Aristo TT.  Basically an Aristo is a Japanese import and looks identical to the GS300.  This is where the similarity ends however.

His car may look like my car, but whilst mine has a 3.0 V6 which tries to move the car's  1.5 tonne weight using 218bhp and about 219lb ft torque, his has a 3.0 V6 twin turbo which moves the same weight with just over 400bhp and ooodles of torque.  In the name of safety I can see the advantages to overtaking safely with this sort of power.  As a boring and uninteresting aside, mine creeps to 60 in about 8.6 seconds, his rumbles to 60 in a little under 5 seconds :blink:

The nice bit: it only cost him £7,000.  Insurance is £750pa fully comp and it does within 1mpg of my current car's fuel consumption.  Interior is almost identical, and it rides as smooth and quiet as mine too.  It's just the whistling horses that give it away when you overtake someone (safely, of course).  I think I have just found the car I want to buy when I replace my current wheels :D

I'm popping over to Billing Aquadrome this Sunday to go to the JAE car event, so I will try to learn more about this strange beastie whilst I am there.  I'll hopefully get to meet a few other Aristo owners and get some importer details :dribble:

And not only that, the car's increased power will also make it easier for you to stay within speed limits  :D
