I'm on one of the role play servers Argent Dawn or some such. I've been trying out a few characters but haven't settled on one yet.

Sadly i can't seem to access either the WOW web site or the game. Not a very clever start for all the beta testing they did

I'm bouncing between Azsune and the role play server. To be honest the role play one is a far better server. Much more immersive and I don't feel an idiot wearing my big rubber Spock ears

Let me know how you get on with this one bud - if it looks like a goer then I'll buy and sign up to the alliance.  Definitely think RPing is the way to go after the galaxies experience.  You tend to get a more serious and mature audience.

Don't they have PvP, RP, and normal servers for Europe?
If I wanted you to understand I would have explained it better

yep most of us are on normal where i think you can set if you want pvp for your charactor or not. i personally find these games pointless if there is no pvp even though i rarely tend to kill.

Whats ever1 else's name's?

And were are you on the on the server the left of right island?

In a nutshell you have PvP servers where you have contested areas. Here you play normal quests etc but if you meet players from the other side they are free to attack you and vica versa. There are still plenty of safe areas where you can quest without being attacked by real players

You have normal servers where you ca only fight players by mutual consent. For example we could all agree to meet up at some location and then all turn on PvP and set too.

Finally you have RP servers which are normal servers except role playing is the norm. The RP servers attract a more mature bunch and it's much easier to set up quick groups for quests and trading stuff etc.

I'm running one of each race on the RP server Argent Dawn (which is nearly full!)

So far

Level 7 Night Elf Hunter
Level 5 Gnome Rogue
Level 5 Human Paladin
Level 3 Undead Mage
Level 2 Troll Shaman

Not started
Tauren Druid
Dwarf Warlock
Orc Warrior

So far I'm  thinking about sticking with The Elf, Human and Gnome. The dwarf is not much different from the gnome, the undead and the troll are to dark and grim to be much fun (as I suspect will be the Orc)  and I haven't tried the Tauren yet. In fact the gnome is the best fun of the lot so far. Sneak about in the dark and stab folk in the ankles!

As to how it plays...it's still mainly about creating a character and leveling up by questing.
It's just that it's so immersive. The world is realistic in a cartoony way (if that makes sense?), the quests all fit together, leveling is more a natural consequence of living and questing in the WOW world rather than some mad dash for XP points. It looks stunning, doesn't lag at all, and has a money system that allows for some basic trades and the ability to earn a reasonable amount of cash without it getting in the way of playing. It doesn't take over the game and allow for vast wealth to be accumulated. About the only thing that costs real money are the mounts (horses etc). Other than that you just need cash for armour, swords and the like.

Chimpy if you like the idea of a Galaxies without a huge tech tree or a vast economic system that is more quest and group centred and has far less game spoiling tactics like corpse looting, spawn camping, grinding etc. then WOW is a good bet. For me it's everything Galaxies isn't.
