In a break with tradition I'd like to comment on-topic:

Don't forget to patch your games:

CS
CZ
DoD
UT2k4
Red Orchestra

See you at the LAN.

what about that band of brothers game. Anygood? whats the multiplayer like?

also what about BF?

suicidal_monkey

aye! bf1942 and the desert combat final mod for it in particular are excellent for teamwork in lans!

no rts games? or are they just a side aspect for those who drop out of the competitions   I have Dawn of War which was pretty fun as a "quick" team-based rts at the last [dg] LAN (think 3v3 wargames with strategic capture points). Basic learning curve wasn't too tough. 3 games in and you've got some idea of how to crush the opposition. Still rts always take up an inordinate amount of time.

Are people likely to play any car-racing games or should I save the space in my bag and leave the wheel/pedals at home?

I have CS 1.6 and Source, CZ and DOD.  Should I go out and buy any of the other games mentioned before the LAN or will I be OK with what I've got?

JB

Mu guess is you'll be fine as you are, there's always a game of CS/CZ going on somewhere in the room so you'll never be alone.  Coupled with the fact that there may be someone willing to lend out a game to others at the LAN you shouldn't have need to spend money unless you really want to buy the game yourself.

This post may be considered whiney but was not intended.

I brought ut2004 yesterday, & i'll have DoW hopefully back from a m8, cs/cz & dod all installed & a few other games along for the ride aswell.

Nah, looked OK to me. Although I had to look twice at "there's always a game of CS/CZ going on somewhere in the room"

What's the final state of play concerning bf1942/Desert combat patches wise? I've got DC 0.7 full install, DC final client(whatever that is) bf patch v1.45.18 and v1[1]6.19

I will bring my driving kit after all if only 'cos I can't go too long without a blast. So I'll have a LFS S2 demo server up on occasions. You can try out my DFP, 3 pedal FREX set and FREX shifter if you like.  8)
