Live for Speed / Great race last night.
June 24, 2011, 05:59:20 PM
Yeah thanks for the great racing last night, good to be back, I was making loads of mistakes near the end whilst behind Slider though fortunately I managed to recover from them all in some sort of zen-like autopilot mode.

Naldo you did really well considering you hadn't practiced with the setup and fuel, it does make a fairly big difference especially when things get hairy. And I think it's only natural when you damage your car, or overheat your tyres to try and push harder to gain time on what you're losing, but it's always better to ease off and try just to make it round as invariably you end up making it even worse. I'm guilty of this more than anyone :D

I'm surprised I managed to pull through and make it through the entire hour. Even aside from fatigue/tyre/fuel management, you have the really huge problem of the track being evil, one little mistake and you're screwed.

Kudos to Three Jump managing to lap me twice and great racing all round really, accidents happen especially on combos like this. Fast and unforgiving. :taz:

NetKar - Assetto corsa / V1.1 Beta 2 Released

Quote from: Katsushika Matsumoto;288831Sorry to vent my frustration here, but is it me or are their a lot of bad apples that are new to nkp scene. I've already noticed it in races and in some degree on the RSC forums. :eyebrow: :sideways:

Did you guys noticed something?

Not sure what the racing is normally like because in all honesty I mostly just raced solo :( But I have been online the last few days and noticed a lot of poor driving followed by disconnections. Which is quite annoying. Not seen anyone that intentionally wrecks though or anything along those lines, just a bit careless.

Racing Sims / All these sims
September 05, 2009, 07:03:00 PM
LFS is a strange one. I find that it has some odd alluring appeal. It doesn't have the best graphics or the greatest sounds, but even so.. it has a weird freshness to it, the graphics and the physics seem to have a unique appeal over all the other sims for me.

I enjoy all the sims really, and I find that even though there are certain things I think are better in other sims (namely sound and graphics) LFS has a charm that means I end up back where I started before long.

I have lost count the number of times I have thought, screw this, then a couple of months later gone back and it being like a brand new game. :lmfao:

Hey, :D First impressions are that the Abarth is amazing fun. It handles fantastic!

But is anyone else having crashes with the Abarth on connecting to a server? It just seems to stop on shadows.nko and if I tab out or do anything nks.exe crashes :( Gutting.

Actually on further testing, I realised I had changed the skin from default to something else, I changed it back to default and I can connect to servers now without a problem :D Yay!

NetKar - Assetto corsa / v1.1 public Beta

I thought that it was broken until realised it was working fine on the F1600/1800. I had a look through the configs and stuff but couldn't find anything so I gave up :D

Its only a shame because I've gotten used to driving all of them with the H-shifter for ages. Mind you they all drive fairly differently now anyway. :)

Yeah in all fairness I really like it after getting used to the FFB. Despite me not really initially being too keen on the braking FFB effects and rumblestrip stuff, its actually helping me in terms of control.

The one thing I don't like is the main UI outside of the game, which is ugly as sin, and takes up my whole screen. And they seem to have removed the H-shifter support in the F2000/FTarget which is a bit crud.

Other than that its good, and in all honesty I'm just glad they released an update. I didn't expect it at all.

Yeah I got very excited yesterday when I saw this had appeared... installed it like a madman and tbh I'm a bit disappointed.

I can't get the FFB working well now it seems EXTREMELY twitchy in terms of steering and there seems to be no damping at all, I feel like I'm going to break my wheel if I play it any longer tbh.. not out of frustration but just the sawing/damperless FFB imp. that is quite harsh overall.

I think if I can get that sorted I can at least start playing/enjoying the game but at the moment it feels awful :(

edit: Actually scratch that, I realised my settings for some reason had defaulted to 300 degrees steering. I reset it all and started again, and its miles better. :)

I did a bit of ovals, when I was stuck on the Solstice. I quite enjoyed the Legends ovals. I normally hate all that round and round endless boring drivel but the laps were only like 30 seconds long so it wasn't too bad.

Dunno if it was a rookie thing though but it always ended up with a few people getting banged off the course by some psycho going too fast or trying to bump draft. :roflmao:

QuoteThat started off the voice summing up the entire alphabet, first in alphabetical order, then in seemingly random order, and then she (it?) began to read endless pages of incoherent texts. She went on for about 10 - 15 minutes and then just stopped mid-sentence.

Lol I hate that voice. Can you download new voices? :g:

Yeah almost having it as a rental would make more sense. Heck I'd pay a LOAD more a month if it meant having all the cars and tracks available. I'm sure they'd make up their money just by the increase in subscribers.

In all fairness, the offers always seem like a complete ****take to me. Like that one a few weeks ago where it said GET A FREE CAR AND TRACK WHEN YOU SUBSCRIBE TO IRACING* (oh but only if you pay $whatever for a years sub). Lol if I could afford that much in the first place I wouldn't even have a problem. :)

Ah well I'm glad they released the SRF. That makes it more worthwhile for me in terms of fun and afforability. Just a shame as it has a lot more potential than what they are currently doing.

The Lotus '79 looks absolutely great, sounds a bit iffy but still... tempting to buy that too but I'll have to wait and see if it falls down the route of loads of tracks like all the other series's.

Anyone know what class the Lotus 79 is going under btw?

Was thinking about this earlier, and its a real bummer that they don't run another set of seasons alongside the ones there with just the standard tracks.

I resubbed the other day, and found out I can't race with the Skip Barber until next season and a track comes around that I happen to own. Really gutting really, as I can't afford to have to be spending $50-$150 odd dollars just to be able to participate in a season for a car I have purchased.

Still enjoying the SRF though and I spose thats enough, but still its a shame that there isn't alternative to having to splurge loads of money on tracks on each season.

Also did I just imagine that there used to be a Legends road series? What the hell happened to that, as that would be a great alternative to Solstice/SRF series's for the guys with not a lot of cash.

I suppose I shouldn't really be complaining as its a great game and the FFB is sublime, but its a shame that they rule out people that don't want to be buying lots of tracks on top of the cars they buy and the subscription fee that they pay.

rFactor / rFactor server.

Yeah its kind of semi-fictional in a sense. There isn't actually a race course, but I'm pretty sure he based the layout around real roads around a dam that is there, in Thermalito.

Saw something he is working on that is a track based around the town centre of Liverpool... so it looks as if he basically is taking real life roads, and turning them into race tracks per say.

You are right there are ton of real tracks that can be used instead, wasn't sure whether that was what was being aimed for though. :D

Hey folks, well I have a suggestion... just a lil one, and its called

Thermalito ... http://www.rfactorcentral.com/detail.cfm?ID=Thermalito :woot2:
Oh I found a pretty cool video of it in action too .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z9pxP8_o17M heheh

This track is crazy fun, and it looks good too :) And its decent with a sizable grid too. As for a car to go with the Escort.. hmm maybe the Abarth/Ferrari 250/Porsche 914?

One of those is bound to be similar performance wise. Though I can't remember exactly how they compare as I usually just race against the same type of car, but they can't be far off can they? :roflmao:
