Technology Section / help to specc new pc
September 09, 2018, 09:07:22 PM
So, pc going on for 6 years, and it's starting to feel exhausted, even when playing wow.

Got long loadtimes, slow graphic-updating, and silly framedrops especially when moving in a major city.

Got the feeling my cpu is running hot, as the fan runs pretty noisy.

Few demands:
quiet and as small as can be, as i'll have to move the rig into the living room in a forseeable future

Budget-friendly as possible.

Having a CM-storm scout case atm, but would prefer something smaller if possible.

So, in france apparently they race like they drive on the streets.

DMR Members Only / Macros - Useful macros in here
May 28, 2018, 08:27:36 PM
Anyone still responding in this thread?

Trying to build a macro for a holy paladin

#showtooltip/cast [@mouseover, exists, noharm][@hbtarget, exists, noharm][@focus, exists, noharm][@player] Holy Light
/cast [mod:ctrl][@mouseover, exists, noharm][@hbtarget, exists, noharm][@focus, exists, noharm][@player] Flash of Light

Trying to build Holy Light and Flash of Light together, with ctrl as a modifier for Flash of Light. However i only get to cast Holy Light, and 2nd part won't trigger.

Technology Section / Do i need to upgrade?
November 19, 2017, 08:31:17 PM
No budget atm.
However, am considering  the SSD, and then putting some decent 16 gigs of ram in it.
and thinking of adding a closed-loop cpu-watercooling, as the fan is not to much use.
Would like to replace my gpu as well, if i can get something, that can handle 3 screens on HDMI or DVI, as i don't have displayport in any screen.

Should probably be noted, that i also do some photo-editing as well.

Technology Section / Do i need to upgrade?
November 18, 2017, 02:44:42 PM
Seeing as i experience slow loading in WOW, I've considered doing upgrades on my rig.

Currently running:
MOBO: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3
CPU: AMD FX-8120 8-core 3200MHz AM3+ socket
GPU: XFX Radeon HD7870 XT
8 gigs of some random RAM
2TB HDD, almost full

With too much effects going on, i see framerates dropping very low
Loadingscreen takes forever (however, that might be a blizz problem)
Graphics take ages to update, especially after a loadingscreen.

Hit me with essential stuff to upgrade
Am aware of an SSD and more RAM, and prob a new cpu-cooler, as the stock fan sounds like it's having a stroke.

I reached max lvl, and never really got geared, since baby took all my time.

If you feel more for your druid, you could always go as dps, and be a stand-in tank, that way you could be gearing it up, while progressing.

Technology Section / Upgrading laptop
April 30, 2016, 03:10:57 PM
Have gotten my hands on a older laptop, a Lifebook A-series A-530 from Fujitsu. As it stands, it needs a new keyboard, so i started thinking about giving it an upgrade of mobo, cpu and ram.
Does anybody have experience in that?
Is it worth the hassle? in question price on parts vs. a decent prebuild new machine.
