DMR Members Only / Plans for Warlords of Draenor

Great post. I am looking to come back to WoD after my lengthy (and much needed) 2 year break from the game. I am very much looking forward to raiding with you guy once again, and the more casual style would suit me just fine.

Hey guys, it's been about 7 months since I last played and as the title suggests I am thinking of coming back during the summer months. I have one exam on Wednesday 22nd and then I will be back at home from uni. I am going to need all the guidance I can get on all the things that have changed over that time :P

Looking forward to seeing you all again, Jesung.

DMR Members Only / Laptop help

Yup it will run everything decently, the only thing that I can see being a problem is that AC3 doesn't have any support for Laptop GPU's, it will run, it just won't be very optimised. However that is a problem you can't get around, the only 'problem' I can see other than the low battery life is the screen resolution, it is 1366x768, which means it isn't HD, but that is personal preference I suppose. You can't really go much either way with laptops and any that are similar priced have similar specs.

I think you have a good price to performance with this one as anything higher gets ridiculously expensive of upwards £800 - £1000

Thanks for the kind words, as I said though this will almost certainly not be a departure from raiding forever, it is just one of those times for me where I can't find many good reasons to keep playing.

DMR Members Only / Taking a break
December 04, 2012, 03:44:01 AM
Hi guys, as the title suggests I will be taking a break from wow for an undetermined amount of time, over the past month or so I have hardly raided as I have had university work to do, and even now that I am finished until next year I really have no drive to start playing again in any sort of serious way, my sub runs out in January from the annual pass and will probably end it at that point. However, when I have taken breaks before they have never been permanent and I usually come back to raiding, but for now, at least through the new year I will be hanging up my raiding shoes.

Quote from: Mellisanda;362301I've been having some trouble with killing the 3rd orb, I must say.. If we're going for 4, I'll definitely need a hand on the 4th and the 3rd is really getting a bit too close for comfort, despite using trinkets and personal cooldowns.. Any suggestions are more than welcome!
I usually struggle to get the last one down one my own, normally either Hal or Whitey help me depending on which side I am assigned to.

After being slow all day it seems in the last 30 mins or so it has kicked back up to speed, the same as yesterday, maybe it is something to do with usage during the day, if it is then I'm not to bothered as I am not here enough during the day for it to cause me a problem, I will keep an eye on it over the next couple of days.

Quote from: TeaLeaf;361909What's up?  Uni blocking it at the firewall or is something happening to it on different days?  Slightly confused as to why the some days are ok and some days not!   Anything we can help research or solve?

I really have no idea, like yesterday a few hours after I wrote this post it was fine, now once again today it's slow and near unusable again, it's not only related to WoW either as I haven't actually opened WoW up since last raid and it still being slow, so I don't think it's firewall blocking access to games and such. The problem with getting it sorted is that it is nothing on my end, so I can't really do anything.

It seems that my internet is just completely done in for the time being, I have tried everything I can to get it working to no avail, this means I will not be able to raid on Tuesdays for the foreseeable, I will still be there on Thursdays and Sundays, but Tuesdays will not be an option :(

Sorry to leave this so late, but I have a mountain of Coursework to get through and I am still ploughing through it so I wont be able to make tonight raid I'm afraid.

Edit: Just an update, I still have two more pieces of coursework to get done before december so my attendance will be pretty hit and miss, I will try and get them finished by the end of next week, and be back on normal raiding schedule afterwards.

Heart of Fear / Blade Lord Ta'yak - DEFEATED 18/11/2012

Quote from: Ammon;361328A warlock portal was mentioned, while i immediately snapped that it wouldn't be very helpful from the start to halfway due to potentially appearing inside a tornado.
would it be workable from halfway to the end, so at the very least a tank & healing team gets zipped to the boss so they can start casting instead of running?.

I really don't think it would be too useful to be honest, for one thing it can only port 5 players total, and that is after it has charged all 5 stacks, which takes 1m 15 secs, which means it would have to be placed whilst we are still doing the first wave and if it is slap bang in the middle of the room someone is bound to accidentally trigger it, also as I found out on Elegon on the walls that the gateway acts more as a dash than a teleport so I am betting if you were to pass through one as you were flying it would sweep you back.

Quote from: Slush;361108The guy asked for a rewiev.
Stop whining, kids.. And stop doing them dailies if you dont like them. Srsly...

Professions on alts:
Yes, there is a point here... But Blizzard do not want the market overflooded with cheap epics from day one. I like this way of doing it... No, I love it! I was not a fan when cheap epics are floating around like in Cata. Myself; Im focusing on my main's profession and that is where I have to make my gold. Other can whine.

Oh, and... Spirit of Harmony might be BoE pretty soon, Bllizzard claim... I like that they hold this back.

Let me put it back on track.
You only need to do dailies (for gear) until honored. From that moment and onward... you can buy almost everything (ilvl489) from Valor Points.
Valor Points can be obtained through dailies, Scenarios, Challenge Mode Dungeons, Heroic mode dungeons and LFR/normal/hc raids.

The rest of it:
Graphic is greatly improved. And the scenery is beautiful. New quests and ... different way of doing them makes leveling (and dailies) funnier and quicker than before (IGN rewiev is spot on). You have a cool new class, challenging raid encounters, fun storylines, new BGs, easier talents that you can change whenever you feel like it, new shitlooking race. The heroic dungeons are fun aswell. And if you do not have time for a 30-40 min dungeon... Do a scenario instead? Less rewarding, but still fun.

Its the best expansion they had.

Ok. I get the fact that I don't have to do the dailies if I don't want to, but seriously what else is there to do? Grind Dungeons/Scenarios? They seem to have the idea that dailies should be 75% of the content if you don't count the raiding, which is ridiculous. Speaking of the raids though, they are some of the best I have played since TBC, the environments are great and the fights are equally so, if the raids weren't so great I wouldn't have stuck around tbh.

Quote from: Niel;361030Some good things for sure.

However, the negatives are....

1. Talent system.......reduced to an almost pointless, optional selection. You can seriously play without any talents set.

2. Dailies .....dailies and more dailies. I am not sure if Blizzard intended it....but this tying of crafting recipes to multiple reps is ridiculously anti alt and for me takes away many of my reasons for playing Alts.........the side-effect will be less Alts played by less people which surely can't be a good thing. The forcing of everyone to grind the same mindless repetitive quests every damn day is my least favourite thing by a mile.

Although the talents have been significantly reduced I don't feel it has really detracted from the game all that much as before, with me at least, I just looked up a spec and filled in the tree and then never looked at it again, now however a lot of my talents are useful for specific fights.

Don't even get me started on the dalies, I abhor the things, I completley binged on them for the first 2-3 weeks since launch and subsequently burnt myself on the entire game, I fell that this was a huge mistep on Blizzards part, it's not even the fact that I am opposed to dailes, I did the entire Argent Tournament in wrath, got every rep exated in cata, did the Netherwing and Quel'danas in TBC, but these are just on another level of grind that I cannot tolerate, msybe they should have introduced the factions gradually in some way rather than giving you about 8 reps as soon as you ding 90.
