Technology Section / Firefox 5
June 22, 2011, 06:07:28 PM
Got the new update from the repos today. Can't say I'm impressed, 4 of my plugins don't work with it and all it has is a couple of bug fixes.

GhostMjr it is definitely worth upgrading to FF4 unless you depend on a plugin it doesn't support. FF5 is not worth having, it should be called FF4.1 or even 4.0.1

EDIT: FF4 will no longer receive security updates. http://news.slashdot.org/story/11/06/22/172229/No-Additional-Firefox-4-Security-Updates?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Slashdot%2Fslashdot+%28Slashdot%29

I really dislike Suez Canal. I don't mind about the other maps too much. =P

Quote from: TwoBad;326316Unfortunately, the ranks of the Juniors have been further depleted today.  De Blob went on a Cub Scout camp yesterday and after a coming together with another boy during a football game (the jury is still out on the other boys intent, grrr) he was knocked to the ground hurting his right side and shoulder.

Ouch, reminds me of when my friend once accidentally broke someone's leg on a Scout camp.

Hope they both get better soon!

ARMA / Eveyone loves a good Poll

I bought ArmA2 after hearing good things about it and in anticipation of ArmA2: PR coming out but it was incredibly complicated and clunky. I guess I will buy Operation Arrowhead since apparently Project Reality is gonna need it.

It appeared again.  The answer to the was remarkably simple:

"do not leave the computer to make a cup of tea during boot up as the Ubuntu menu option times out and the PC auto-boots into W7 after 10 seconds."

I feel like an idiot, I'll go hang my head in shame.........  :roflmao:

Ahh this has got me many a time. You can edit the GRUB config to stop that from happening.

I love photography but can't afford expensive equipment. I use my phone a lot and very occasionally I get out my 35mm Olympus OM10 SLR but that is prohibitively expensive to use and is manual focus.

There is a way to repair GRUB with a live CD but I have never tried. The last time I needed to do it was very much a novice and just reinstalled.

smilodon would you say that it is worth going from Gnome 2 to Gnome 3? Gnome 3 looked very similar to Unity to me and Unity was pretty awful.

I'm a bit late to the party here but I used the Universal USB Installer on a 4GB stick with no problems. I did read somewhere that U3 causes issues and it is useless anyway.

I would recommend dual booting, the Ubuntu installer is very straight forward. If you don't need the Windows partition for any Windows specific applications then just having Ubuntu would be the best option. (in my opinion)

Hi.
See you on the server. =)

Looks nice and it's running a really recent kernel version. My phone is still on 2.6.29. =(

Have you tried holding down on the keyboard then swiping upwards. I know on the Froyo stock keyboard that used to bring up a little extra panel.

Just saw that before checking the forums. Boris really is crazy.

Nothing will come of this though, I expect Boris rarely gets to see Obama and there has been no comment by anyone higher than Boris.

Quotetokens are sent in plain text over wireless networks

This isn't really new or specific to Android phones. People have been doing this for years.

I'm still on 2.2 and the 2.3.3 update for my phone isn't even ready yet. 2.3.4 is probably going to be another year.

I run Linux and resent that.

It should be find a work around that kind of works and hope that someone else fixes it in an update.
