Racing Sims / Hiya
January 07, 2017, 11:20:36 AM
Hey mate,

Welcome to DMW, we used to mainly race on LFS but sadly the interest for LFS has declined and it's pretty much not used anymore although you can catch some of us on there now and then. Most race on AC (thread for DMW races here. I do race on both PCars and AC but on PS4 not PC, one day I shall get round to getting a new PC and hopefully join the action on here again.

Edit - if you've not tried LFS it is worth downloading the free demo, not only are the physics superb but it has brilliant VR support for your rift.

It seems to be doing quite well on PS4 as servers are normally busy ish (probably xbone too I would guess) and no doubt will probably sell very well on the console side coming up to xmas, not sure if you guys get paid from the console versions though?

Amazingly still have my profile backed up and cod 4 installed! my user on there is/was Natas

Hey all,

Figured this may interest some of you who are close to Overclockers hq, basically a free to enter event, all you have to do is book yourself a slot online and go down to OC's and set a time, it is set up on Project Cars using a Vive on the setup of a 10 lap solo race taking your fastest lap from the 10 to go on to the leaderboard. The qualifiers of each round then get chance to go to Bedford Autodrome to compete in some of the Palmer cars for the final.

More Info and signup's here : https://www.overclockers.co.uk/lp/overclockers-uk-racing-championship.html?campaign=affiliate/tag

Wish I was closer!

Racing Sims / 'ello again.

Quote from: Seany;415695I'd love if LFS suddenly got going again with a nice big injection of content etc...but it's pretty much still the same old story as when you stopped those years ago (even with "S3")...a great shame to see such potential go like this!  I don't think Scawen has the interest any more and the LFS racing community seems to be slowly dwindling away, unfortunately :( .  I haven't raced LFS in a long time now.

Agreed, for what's it's worth I got OB to update the lfs server so at least it's on the latest patch, but it is very quiet and I'll be honest I really struggle to get back into these days, think it is purely the lack of people, a great shame as we've had many nights of great racing over the years, Seany, I agree to a point mate but I would say the problem lies in Eric, Scawen has kept a steady(ish) stream of updates but it is purely down to Eric to make the content as far as I understand their setup. I wish they would be more open on the forums about what is actually happening but sadly I doubt that will ever happen.

I've switched over to the dark side for the time being and I'm on PCars on the PS4... AC and PCars on my pc "just" run but not smooth enough to be consistent, one day I'll get round to updating my pc then maybe I'll get back on our servers.

Live for Speed / LFS Patches
June 23, 2016, 09:23:53 PM
Thanks for updating server again OB, now on 0.6p, was hoping to try and get a bit of interest as it's been a while since we had any lfs activity.

First time it's been back online for a fair while and we have 7 racers joining and racing within half an hour.. maybe there's still a bit of life left in LFS ;)

Seriously though ... / Summer Tyres
June 09, 2016, 04:43:58 PM
I'd maybe post in there then, pretty sure there will be non uk owners on there also who maybe able to help. Although I would say any decent summer tyre is going to hold up well in your climate,  the hotter and drier it gets the more grip you will get.

I just swapped tyres not long back but as I'm about to sell it I went for a slightly cheaper performance tyre rather than buying premium, spoke to my local tyre guys and they recommended Falkens (on a BMW E92 so also rear wheel drive), now as I say I wasn't too worried as the car is going but I'm actually surprised how much grip they have, even when really pushing it, certainly up there with the Goodyears that where on it and half the price.

Link to their site if you want to see if they do your sizes - http://www.falkentyre.com/en

I would say it depends on two things, one as above, log onto the mr2 owners forum (I assume there will be at least one) and ask or search on there, a tyres performance can vary depenant upon the  type/size performance etc of the car, they will have a lot more input from people who drive them regularly to advise you.

Also I would say it depends on how you intend on driving it, if it's going to be driven at pace a lot then obviously you want the best performing tyres you can get, if however it is going to be doing short distances at a steady speed there really is no need to spend a fortune on high end tyres.

Edit - thread on an owners club here with reviews of varying tyres and sizes http://www.mr2roc.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3313&sid=625e5360cf7090a7d731263b81316628&start=60
