Hey guys,

Anybody tried Dirt Rally from Codemasters?

I bought this a few days ago on Steam.  It's still on early access, currently on version 0.41.

Boy what a game!!  I can't leave the damn thing alone.  Cost me £25 and an absolute bargain.

The modelling of the cars and graphics are just exquisite. No arcade driving experience here.  No rewind when you get it wrong, no restart or they punish you by taking in game cash away.  You just have to suck it up and get on with it

Reminds me of the early Codemasters games like Colin McRae rally series but better.  All this and the game isn't even complete.

Hey Guys,

Please excuse me for posting here in this topic, it feels like a group convo of which I'm not part, but I wanted to offer a little insight to my FSE experiences and to offer any help to ease the grind if I can.

I'm not very good at structuring well written forum posts so please bear with me as I ramble.....and please be kind

There are complex aircraft in FSE i.e. PMDG J41. ERJ135/145 (I use Feelthere model), and you can fly the 737. A320 in the all in jobs.  There are others though maybe they don't quite fit with a group flying ethos or the one I think some of you are trying to achieve.  They also require a large quantity of "grind" to acquire in game, which can get pretty old, quickly.
I joined FSE because I needed a purpose to use all the flight sim stuff I have and the economy part filled that void and gave it all a new interest for me.  The downside was I started to "grind" to achieve what I wanted in game and being honest this has somewhat spoiled my siming experience.  Having FBO's means you "have" to use them to make their ownership viable and you also "have" to look after them in the supplies department.  Taking out a loan on a large aircraft means you "grind" again to pay the damn thing off less you lose it.  For me who just wanted to fly and enjoy it, it has become another occupation which I really don't need lol.  But ask me to give up all my empire and go back to simpler times...the hell I will, heh, go figure.

Think what I'm trying to say here is fly for flying sake and not to build something that evolves into a second job.  

Using the big heavy tubes in FSE is a much debated subject, and one that in time I have become to realise wouldn't work.  I think it's the mix of large and small that would totally upset the economic model that exists there.  There is always Flyteline, which is similar to FSE but accommodates all kinds of aircraft but if you have a look there, it doesn't seem a very popular site.  Not knocking anything or anyone, buts stats don't lie.

Anyways I wanted to offer any help that I can.  I have quite a few heavy haulers that I zoom about the planet from time to time.  If it is of any help I can either lend you any of them or even do resupply jobs for you.  Just give me the heads up, always willing to help.  No fees or favours required.  

Lastly, this forum here is a nice place.  Can't be said for many like it around the internet.

Just a small post to expand on what Lars has been discussing with you re the Air Ecosse network.

Gates can be made available for renting at any of the Air Ecosse FBO's for you guys with the only exceptions of EGPD and EGPM.  These airport gates are part of an arrangement with Lars' Borealis group providing connections to Sola.  

Gate rental fees can be negotiated if that is something that would be of interest to you.

I also have a small Irish network (EIME, EIKN, EICM) which could be moved to a separate group from Air Ecosse where  some of you guys could be set up as Admin and run it as your own.

Just some ideas I was thinking of for you all to have a look at that might help you guys get going.  If there are some of your own that I can help with, or discuss the finer details of anything afore mentioned by Lars and myself, please don't hesitate to shout at us.

Other games I play.....where do I start....

I like all megalomaniac games where there's some kind of economy and some FPS ones as well.

To name a few... Farming Sim( sad I know ) , Eurotruck Sim.

I also love space games such as the X series from Egosoft, Homeworld, Freespace etc.  I have been eyeing Elite Dangerous and noticed you have a thread here about it.  Old computer would need a Graphics card upgrade to handle that one though so I've sort of got stuck there presently.

That's just some of the games I like but don't have enough time to play them all unfortunately, such is life
