Counter-Strike: Source / CS:S the next big thing
August 19, 2004, 07:01:48 PM
1.6 will always be "counter strike" but source is great for injecting a new if slightly small slant on things. the physics are great though, arnt they!! they add some thing new that has not been done before, 24 player servers with realtime physics..never thought the net code could have been that good! its only time before some new maps come out that use the physics in interesting ways, like destructable scenery, and collapsing bits, that will change routes and strategies.
the future of cs looks great, if at the mo a little too much like a graphical update.

Counter-Strike: Source / Beta pre-loading soon
August 10, 2004, 09:49:02 AM
just seen this, looks like by the end of the month well be playing source! :

Pre-loading of the Counter-Strike: Source beta to cyber cafés begins today. On Wednesday, this first phase of the beta will open and the game will be playable at all cyber cafes that subscribe to the Valve Cyber Café Program. Later this month, the beta will be extended to owners of Counter-Strikeâ,,¢: Condition Zeroâ,,¢ and ATI Fulfillment Coupon holders.

This beta serves as a compatibility test of the Source engine as we near the completion of development on Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike: Source. During this limited-time beta, issues can be reported using the in-game bug-reporting tool. In addition any crashes will automatically generate a report back to Valve’s bug database. We thank everyone for their participation, and we hope Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike: Source live up to your expectations.
