Technology Section / New set-up
March 15, 2009, 11:00:23 PM
Hello guys,

I finally decided to upgrade ye olde PC.
I built it about 9 - 10yrs back (865PE Neo2-P Platinum Edition with 3.0GHz P4 and RX9800PRO) and realise there's only so far it can go now.

The fact that I'm restricted to a AGP graphics card was the biggest push.

Anyway... I've took the plunge and ordered some bits n bobs to upgrade and in true Rutski style have decided to ask for some advise when it's too late

I've ordered...

Asus M3A78-EM AMD 780G (Socket AM2+) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 920 2.8GHz
Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme CPU Cooler
EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX+ "Superclocked" 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) (I intend to add another in future)
Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x2GB) Dual Channel Kit
Thermaltake Aguila VD1000BWS Black Middle Tower
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium

Choice was made a lot with cost in mind. Rest of the bits im gonna salvage from old rig and from various boxes that seem to be accruing in the garage. Hopefully the new board should allow me to add and upgrade for a few years before I need to change again.

Please feel free to tell me where I went wrong and how I've just wasted loads of cash :crying:.

Anything else you would advise adding or which of these bits you would look to upgrade first? I will no doubt feel the need to spend some more money on it in the near future.

Cheers,

How long did he raid? Meaning raiding experience?

All can be learned!

I wouldn't trust the rep bars alone after looking at his Stormpike rep. (He has rank 6 Insignia equipped.)

Just a pointer from a nosey passer-by :)

The Clean Up / Goodbye and Good Luck
November 30, 2006, 10:01:48 PM
After a good think;

I have decided to cancel my subscription to WoW. I have many good memories of the game from before and after joining SoG.
The gear I have managed to collect on my mage was vastly due....  NO   completely due to my time in SoG.  So, although i will be sending my few hundred G on to a RL m8 of mine, I thought it was only fitting for the Nexus crystals I DE'd from my mage to be returned to Guildybankee.

Many thanks for my time here and all the best for the future...:byebye:

The Clean Up / A Heads Up
November 25, 2006, 12:43:14 AM
Just wanted to let everyone know that I was thinking of a guild change.

I didn't want to just post and leave in one swoop like seems to be the craze. I wanted to offer some reasons for my deliberation.

Recently, I took a break from raiding and vertually stopped playing WoW all together. But, since getting my beta key for TBC, I have started playing a little more.

It's good to see RG1 making good progress in AQ, and also good to hear RG2 doing well.

I wouldn.t mind being involved again, but cannot commit to a raid schedule as I don't get home from work now until after 7 most nights.

Soldier rank is the only catagory i honestly fit now, so I wouldn't expect a place anyway.

All this said; The main reason I am thinking of leaving is not a lack of a raid spot, which WAS my own doing anyway, but to link up with some old freinds and enjoy the banter once more.

I'd like to take this oportunity to thank everyone involved with the everday running of the guild and all the members that made me feel welcome and at home.

Out of interest, the guild I am probably joining will be Utopia, which basically consists of a lot my old freinds from EoA and a few freinds I made during my time in Shadow Runners Clan.

I won't be going for a raid spot but only to help out when needed.

I hope I won't be leaving a bad taste in anyones mouth by leaving to join another guild as I have enjoyed my time here and made some good freinds.

If I can help any of you out in the future, in any way, please don't hesitate to give me a shout.

Wish you all the best for the future and I am sure you will acheive all of your goals.

p.s. once again I am peeshed while posting, so I hope my message gets across ok

The Clean Up / Quick question...
October 22, 2006, 01:54:13 AM
Probably not the best member to be asking the question....   but,

Do SoG intend any changes to the RAID system / requirements after Burning Crusade is launched?

Obviously, people will be wanting more time to explore new content and also to level. But, after playing the BETA for a week now; (unless blizz change it dramatically), it seems the new drops beyond the portal will be far superior to the loot we are collecting now. ( I am talking BoE greens here).

as it stands:.....

In their quest to rule out 1-shot kills in PvP, it looks like the answer is to give every item +40 Stam (I'm talking cloth) and still give it + 30 - 45 spelldamage.

Before u reach lvl62 u have a green ring to match the epic ZG reward one  (too lazy to look it up at this time of night).(( and I know there's probably better now,   but this thing is green))

All this said...  some people may not buy the expansion pack...   do we rework the RG system accordingly?

I'm sure the officers have talked on this already, but also, I am sure members views/suggestions would be appreciated at this stage.

I'm sure content and drops will change quite a lot before the launch, But atm I am ditching epics for greens     and thats been going on since lvl62.
