The Clean Up / Bye bye SoG
January 16, 2007, 07:09:28 AM
Well a lot of you don't know me since I haven't been here that much anymore ever since I stepped down from Guardian.

I won't be here that much either, even with TBC, so I have decided that I will make a fresh new start with my chars and will leave SoG and then will just see what will happen in the future. Needless to say that my son's char (Flymaster) will be leaving the guild as well.

I wish all of you here in SoG the best of fun with TBC and good luck with the new raiding instances. Cya all around and remember, it is just a game :P

I have come to the conclusion that it is time to retire Nebuoh from raiding.

Lately I have not been enjoying myself in the (raiding) game anymore. This has had several reasons, all of which have absolutely nothing to do with SoG as a guild.

I have been playing this game from day 1 and have enjoyed everything about it when I was levelling. I enjoyed the entire PVP part and made it to rank 12. I enjoyed the PVE part when I started with DD but most of all during the raiding time with you guys in RG2 and RG1. However, lately...

Real life is and should always be the most important thing. Rushing home from work to make it in time for raids is not good. When asked by friends to go out, telling them it is not possible on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays is not good. In general planning my RL around raiding instead of the other way around is not good.

Also getting worked up about game contents (loot), loot systems, the total number of hunters or any other kind of game related matter is not good. It's a freaking game, a very addictive game, but still a game. I have been telling me this for ever, but somewhere along the line I must have taken the wrong exit. So what if I didn't get the loot or if I have to sit out on a raid? Indeed, so what, then why do  I keep myself occupied with these thoughts? Not good, so time to take a break from it.

The only time I have been really enjoying myself inside WoW, lately, has been during the times I have been questing with my son, who is also with SoG. When I see his innocent joy when he plays the game and how he makes me feel the same by enjoying the simple things of this game, it made me realise how far astray I had gone. Taking the game way too far serious is not good.

Last night I told someone who has also stopped actively with this game, that I wasn't gonna quit because the game is still a lot of fun. I then realised that the fun was coming from playing my lower level alts together with my son and that it was not coming from raiding with my hunter anymore.

And so, this is the end for my hunter. I have asked TL to demote me to soldier. I will remain in the guild with my alts, if possible, and will be online to play together with my son, unbound to anything. It also means that my mage will not be too active in the SoGOne runs as well. I am very sorry for the very short notice and I apologise to the RG1 members for that.

When TBC comes out, who knows what might happen, but for now, thanks all for a great time in RG2 and RG1. Good luck to both raid groups and I am sure that both will do excellent. Personal cheers to Incentos and Risingstar and I will see you in RL for sure and then you can show me all those new epixx.

Ranged DPS / To Many!!
November 19, 2006, 06:40:26 PM
well my thoughts... I have to agree with Rata here. We, as hunter class, imho, have not been in shortage during the majority of the raids. 5 of us have always been there, even in the period that Tan wasnt able to join due to hardware problems. Unfortunately SB has resigned his post, but we got Tan back full time and Lucian will be back full force in a while as well.

If it were the case that we have been short on hunters during all of our raids, I can understand the invites perfectly, so I share Rata's thoughts here. No disrepect to any of the new hunters intended.

I still remember how you, as one of the RG1 officers, led the just started RG2 on our conquest through MC and OL. Great tank, great RL and you will be sorely missed. Deepest respect for your decision. Pop in on TS and spam us once in a while.

November 12, 2006, 05:07:54 PM
pff.. another week... I do would like to know what the next loot system will be... dkp * priority scaling? or are we going back to the old system... or are we gonna wait who will do /gquit to determine the next system... (and no I won't take back anything I have mentioned about this in the past about anybody or any system)

The Clean Up / Trial Loot System Feedback

Imho, Vargen made a very good point. People do have lots of DKP because they put in a lot of time to get there, which allows for new players to experience these instances/bosses. People should be able to be rewarded because of that effort and not have to lose an item to someone else SIMPLY because it has been prioritised that way. I am sure that nobody here would like to lose out on an item, for which they have saved and passed on in the past, to a new guildie simply cause he/she has a class priority on it.

On the other hand, people must also still be wary of the fact that some items CAN indeed be of better use to some other class. But in this case, as has been stated in a lot of previous posts by other people, it CAN ALSO sometimes be that a certain player (class) will have a LARGER upgrade/improvement from an item than a player (class) that would normally be suited best for that particular item. In this case I think the raid will benefit far more from it.

In any case, still a hard nut to crack

Yeah, you are right Soup. I did go offline with Neb, cause I was actually so ****ed inside that RG1 once again had a lack of attendance on a night where we could have learned/improved from Naxx, or AQ40 (yes wiping!).

This time I reacted perhaps too hastily and went off to play with my alt and I apologise for that to all the other members who did try to stay for the Ony run.

The Clean Up / Trial Loot System Feedback
October 26, 2006, 10:57:06 PM
Quote from: Lucian;159306Circlet of Applied force dropped tonight in BWL so I whispered. Luminance, a rogue with 900 dkp less than me whispered for it and received the loot.

Before I say anything else, this is not personal - I do not bear a grudge towards Luminance for winning.

Following these events, the hunters are particularly cross. Some members have been silent, but others are annoyed, and wish to express their frustration about how the new system effectively reduces any chance of priority to ranged weapons only.

Every I think realises that hand weapons are a grey area - axes, daggers etc. come under this, but with the new system, because whoever designed the list sees Hunters as ranged weapon users, they no longer have immediate access to melee weapons.

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. Hunters have as much right to earn the chance to use a hand weapon, or neck piece, or cloak, or ring as ANY OTHER CLASS, and to exclude them from that will only continue to raise the level of unhappiness.

EDIT:

My suggestions:

If priority is essential, then make experience count, or implement priority for new instances like Naxx. People can understand that...
Umbra's idea for a multiplier makes sense... please consider it.
A hunter strike has been mentioned, and some members are in favour of it. That is how unhappy we are. This thread is an attempt for some form of fast mediation to take place. Please use it as such!

I said we would just have to see what would happen with the new loot and stuff... and thank God it did not happen to... I have to agree with Lucian, he has been saving DKP to get some nice stuff, just as me and I am sure as lots of other ppl, but did not get it due to the new "priority" rules. Same as Lucian already said, no harm or disregard to Luminance.

This is already the first issue to arise since this loot system has been put in place... first day!!! and I am sure lots more will follow... especially with the CTS in mind.

I am also sure the entire raid saw my congrats to a certain rogue and I was whispered about it. First of all, I will not now and not in the future change my mind about this towards him and if ppl find that offensive, then I would like to point out that the sudden change, YES sudden change, after a /gquit from that same person has instigated this. I now wish I had not whispered to Vargen to invalidate my bid on that dagger if a rogue wanted it, since he got it and decided to /gquit afterwards anyways.

Don't discredit Lucian's post because of this, since he has a valid opinion.

I do wonder, should i do a /gquit, if anything would be changed... I dont think so...

Omg Osh.. you decided this w/o telling me ;)... oh well, I understand where this has come from. Have great fun with RL, but I know that you will miss my witty remarks about your pvp skills, so you'll be back to get verbal revenge.. :D

Anyways, take care and am sure I'll talk to you in game, cause you still have to beat my son at throwing snowballs :D

The Clean Up / Trial Loot System Feedback

At first glance, can't say I am really happy about this. Waited a damn long time for some nice swords/daggers to drop to finally replace my old blue items and now that I do have the DKP (or getting close to it), I can wait some what longer again because items are being "prioritised".

Ah well, we'll see how this will work out.
