I got a friend (from a clan we played in past) that I've known well for about 3 months, talk to him regularly and play on his ex clan server ever since we played them back in November, he even made me an admin there despite me not paying like the rest of the clan did.    I think despite his young years, he's a decent enough chap who'd fit in well here at dMw.

Which made me look at THIS POST from way back when we had active members on the CS servers everynight and how difficult it would be for someone new nowadays to get into charlie company via CZ only.  When was the last time we had a NEW charlie member we hadn't known for years anyway?  Eventually we are going to need new members !

Could the 'route to charlie company' be looked at with an eye to those that don't have BF2 and maybe take some consideration an extension to the sponsorship or mentor route, because we will need new blood soon enough if we're to keep on surviving.

Feel free to batter me down and point me towards something i've obviously missed because i'm sure its out there somewhere, but I said I'd ask and thought things may need a shakeup.

You're spot on actually JB :)

Although the documentation is yet to reflect this, the situation is such:

QuoteThe existing membership structure will remain unchanged however it will now be the role of the Section Admin to promote to Bravo/Charlie within their own section. The Head Admins and all other Section Admins will have the right to veto any proposed promotion.

There is no distinction between the game being played and the quality of recruit we demand.

why don't you invite him to post then JB?

or are you suggesting an "accelerated promotion"?

...in which case, I'm dead against that...

only 1 reason....

people like sulky & Tox (my son) and several others are slavering to be made charlies and get into competition....they have to wait like the rest of us did.

otherwise, I'm not sure what you're saying

He'll get a warm welcome from me whatever 8)

edit; just re-read and it sounds like there's already been "accelerated promotion"

in which case I cannot object

I didn't wanna post names to make sure there wasn't 'accelerated promotion' at all, I wanted to make sure things were done above board and he got treated the same as everyone else.  If he suddenly appeared in Bravo and then 2 weeks later charlie, I didn't want people saying it was down to me.

Wouldn't happen. We don't trust your judgement  :narnar:  ;)

As OB said, it's up to the section admins, Ron, madness and me. Mad-ness would be the one to suggest a person for promotion and the head/section admins would have right of veto to avoid it being a "mates club"

Am I ok to invite him in for pre match warm up's?  And to Friday nights CZ session?

I forget just what Alpha section brings with it right now.

Whitey

As he's in Alpha he'll have registered his steam ID and is free to play on MH with the rest of us and pre-match practice should be ok as it's using the same Password.

The only thing to watch is that the posts about practices tend to go in the Bravo section so he might not see it :)
