DKP

I only mentioned alts and dkp becuase a few months back there was vehement refusal to allow alts to get dkp at all. If this has changed then woohoo! I love my priesty so much, and would love a chance at some point to get some nice epix for her.

also, dkp is important, because a few of us play more than just raid and pvp, we go grind and also looking forward to questing after expansion. better gear = killing mobs faster and taking less damage, so more grinding per hour, or less dullness overall.

Basically as you say it's a number to reflect time spent. But it's the ONLY number and the ONLY indication we can use, it's not so much focusing, because that implies there are other things to look at, but everything else is merely qualitative. DKP is useful because it's quantitative.

for example I recently won my untamed blade (thanks to dajo for letting me), and of course someone else could have had it and the raid in itself wouldnt have noticed much difference, however, I would have noticed the difference in the rest of my gaming experience. Three's nothing wrong with paying attention to the system used which affects both the raiding and pvp and solo/party experience.

Think of it like money, you might not lie to but that's what it is, a credit for time spent, you not only get the satisfaction of a finished product, but you get moolah to spend on cars/girls/games/drink. Not sure about anyone else but I use these wherever i am. similarly, 99% of the item i've earned i use throughout the game.

AFAIAA we have only pulled an alt into the mix where we have had a real class need.  And as you know well, our beloved priests always have high attendance and all officers were wrong to recruit more

As i said one of the benefits of the system is that it both spreads the loot in best maner for the raid while it also gives players the loot they want. But would you have noticed or cared if the officers had said that they used loot counsil while they had an hidden DKP site you couldn't see?
