ChimpBoy

I'm with Smilodon (for once) - Splinter Cell comes highly recommended.  In fact it rocks.   8)

Need a decent spec to get the most out of it though.

Hey Dingo - don't tell the boss.  If he knew what a lazy, workshy, trainee wannabee I am then I'll be sent back to the farm, or worse, I'll become Smileys assistant  8O
If I wanted you to understand I would have explained it better

Ok, so I finsihed Splinter Cell.

In a word, or a couple of words, quick easy and fun (ok that was three words). In fact it's very easy, except at the end when it does get a bit of a frag fest.
And of course like so many games of this ilk it also plays like it's on rails. But I suppose it would be tough to script a game so nicely and make it non linear at the same time.

The AI ranges from stunning (I got flanked wonderfully by a doberman of all things) to brainless, but is mostly pretty good. Graphics, sound and controls are all fine, with the graphics being especially good on a GeForce 3+ machine. Dynamic lighting and all that, nice. It plays like a cross between Max Payne, Hitman and Medal of Honour.

Gripes include instant saves which take away all the tension (if you use them of course (which you shouldn't)) and a daft idea where at certain trigger points the game decides if any of you kills are not hidden well enough. If they are 'found' you get an alarm , and on certain levels an automatic game over. You never get told which body was found so it's a case of trial and error.

If you fancy the idea of Thief 2 with guns and gadgets go buy. 8/10

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.
