Damn, I though of doing a thread like this yesterday but couldn't be bothered until now and found this one!

Anyway......

Spectrum 48K (good old rubber jobbie) - was after a ZX81 but (after my brothers convinced my dad that the family trait of being an engineer in the steelworks was not not gonna last forever and that I should have a computer) he decided that the ZX81 had a crap keyboard (having shovels for hands himself) and decided on the 16K Spectrum, then he decided that I would only want the 48K one later on so got me that instead... Result!

Spectrum 128K (Sinclair one with the antique radiatir bolted on the side, not the Amstrad one), I know where this one lives and it still has the "Interface 1" (Had to be the first games networking system 3.5mm jack plug could join Specys together, there was a Motorbike race game that used it) and Microdrives that I had for my 48K Specy.

Amiga 500 - Still got - (Kickstart 1.2) Took one look at "FA/18 Interceptor" and fell in love with the thing and has to buy one.

Amiga 1200 - Still got - got the 40mb hard drive installed later, the cheaper larger drive which meant they just had to bend the internal shielding but it cost a damn site less money.

Amiga 500 - Still got - (Kickstart 1.3) - One of my mates gave it to me.

DX2-80 AMD PC - Still got - Made to order, I was a contractor at the time and had money to burn (pre- IR35 days), the processor had only been available for a week.

Intel Pentium 166 - Still got - Still contracting!!!!!!

Intel Pentium 200 laptop - Still got - (with mpeg chip installed) - Still got - Still a flush contractor.

Athlon 500 - Still got - (slot A, DIY) - Not a contractor any more! On Barrysworld all the time! ISDN, my god they will never get any faster than this!

Athlon XP 1700+ - Still got -, running Fedora 5 - (DIY) - Hello dMw! ADSL, okay they will!

Athlon XP 2400+ (the good core) - Buggered- (DIY) - various hardware upgrades kept this one alive for a long time (eventualy destroyed the CPU trying to remove some stickers that were on it causing heat problems)

Athlon 64 3800+ Dual core - Still got - (DIY) sat here now typing!

Sempron 3200+ - Still got - (DIY) decided to make use of the components laying around from the 2400+ and have a seperate eMule/bitcomet system.

10 TerraHertz, Cyber-Neural implant AMD - Hey, who knows!!!!!!

Just after I finsihed my A-levels (failed them all) I decided to go to collage and take up computing. I bought a p2 333 system from mesh or some such company, I can't remember now. Upgraded the gfx card to a voodoo3 2000. Did me well, started off playing Everquest and HL (then CS) on it.

I killed the CPU in a poor upgrade effort and built a new rig (with a few parts from this one)

AMD 800 and the voodoo3 2000 (lasted me through Uni). I upgraded the card to an ati radion 9600.

Destroyed that PC while installing a network card :blink:

Built the current rig P4 2.4 HT. Upgraded the ati 9600 to a nVidia 7800GS thingy, stuck more better memory in, gave her a better case etc.etc.

Only thing iI've destroyed since has been a couple of hdd, but it wasnt my fault.

Fingers crossed she will last me a few more years. (and Norm can build the next one)

Because most people with Dragons were put off computers for life!
