I don't know if its still true or not with the newer versions, but if you left ff open but minimized (& maybe just normally looking at the amount its using for me at the mo), for some reason it used loads of memory, there seems to be a few differant fixes - googled

It could also be caused by a Java applet running on the page.

My FF doesn't like the snowy applet and closes randomly whist viewing the forum.

Same here. But it is quite rare.

the memory useage of firefox isn't a bug(memory leak) as most believe, it's down to the way it will cache pages visited. The more tabs, heavy page size the more memory will be used.

in about:config

browser.cache.memory.capacity

turn it off and see if it helps.
