A xmas pc :p

Hi guys,

I am looking at buying a few components to make a pc away from home, which will comprise of alot of the components i already own but with a view to upgrade my graphics card when vista appears after xmas. I hope you can give a bit of feedaback as to my choices

So i currently have:

• 2x 1gb pny sticks of ddr 400 ram
• xfx 6800gt agp
• 250gb ide hdd
• 1 dvdrw
• 1 floppy disk drive

Things i would need:

• 1 motherboard that supports both agp and pci-e for graphics upgrade in the near future suggestion being: http://www.asrock.com/product/775Dual-VSTA.htm

• 1 processor- 1 6600 intel dual core
• 1 case

So, the big question is will it all work when i put it together? Firstly the motherboard is exactly what i need and so i can save up for a new graphics card for the new year as it supports both agp and pci-e formats. The processor is good and as i can use my current ram and graphics card i can save for future upgrades. The only concerns i have is does the motherboard allow me to have a combined 4gb of ram i.e. 2gb of ddr2 and 2gb of ddr400? I have posted the specs below as i'm not very good with tech spec.

                            - Dual Channel DDR/DDRII memory technology
                               - 2 x DDRII DIMM slots
                               - Supports DDRII667/533
                               - Max. capacity: 2GB
                               - 2 x DDR DIMM slots
                               - Supports DDR400/333/266
                               - Max. capacity: 2GB


Lastly is my graphics card a 3.3V AGP card as the manual for the motherboard says 'It may cause permanent damage'! and how do i find out?

I'm not sure about the PSU. Normally you would want 30A min on the 12V rail (which this seems to have). However, you are normally recommended to have at least 2x if not 4x 12 V rails if you are going to an 8800 type card in the future.

I have this for my comp. Running an 8800GTX, 6 HDDS, 1 DVD, and an E6600 without any problems.

Nice, 33 Amps split over two uncoupled 12V rails. Seasonic are a good make
