Have you enjoyed it this far? I have not had a chance of trying it yet, but It'll be great tonight for sure. I've been working in the yard and all kinds of spring activities.

Aquilifer

Very tricky until the rear tyres get warm and then again helluva tricky when they get to hot.

Although...(I never believe I said this)...kind of fun when the rear tyres are working (which is about 2 -3 laps for me). The car requires me to be constantly alert even on straights because it starts to 'snake' after the rear tyres begin to lose grip (actually even before that).

There is a Berlin wall on the T1 chicane. So if you come in bit wrong you are dead meat. Also if you have to start from the left side and are not able to move right before the chicane you are either dead meat or half the field is able to overtake you.

So in a nut shell...I bet one of Ron's lunch vouchers I won't be able to finish the race.

OldBloke

A tough car to drive quickly and even tougher to race. Moving offline to try to overtake is fatal (for me at least) so I will be trying very hard to be quick whilst keeping it clean and, hopefully, bring it home in the points.

Nah, it's stronger than the Berlin wall! The reason I put it there is simple. When a car other than your own hits the tyres it can, and does, ruin an innocent driver's race. We've all seen it too often with ANY car. W.T.Fonly was a case in point. I am almost certain he was going for the tyres deliberately until the penny dropped!

I'll give you 10/1 you will. :norty: Softly, softly, catchee monkey. :flirty:

Congrats Venco CZ :yahoo:

This week I drove my first lap in this combo in quali due to me spending the last week watching paint dry.

I crept around the first laps scaring Doorman into staying behind me until I hit a recovering Vobler up the RAC. Doorman went past and I gave chase, then pos comp froze, reebooted and joined 15th and last. 8 laps in I was 11th, I pitted on lap 14 and waited. A few mins from the end I did a few laps and finished 8th.

lol, equal 9th now, I dunno why no one went for 9th or 10th.

How the hell can anyone go through the T1 chicane 'adequately' 40 times and make such a cods of it on the 41st? I was airborne so long I was getting DVT!
Made it to 49.5 minutes though which was longer than Aquilifer, who, by the way, owes me a lunch voucher because he made it to the first pitstop. :D
All in all, a good race. Well done the hotshots and well done Ben on a fine ninth.....or tenth

I was afraid of this one. As I was with the UF1 and the UFR. It is a killer.
Bob talked me into starting with 35% fuel and to get 35% at mid race. I would take 8 seconds to refuel.

I got a qual position in the middle and started out easy. But as I saw CrayzyR1 and the others pull away, I started to push. And I shouln't. In the final chicane I hit the tires (softly) and hit the ad stands (softly) but still managed to wreck my car. So I had to pit. But in the comotion with passing cars and the pits just 200m away I forgot to change my fuel. So I fixed my car and refueled. And that made me mad so I got a drive through too. On top of that I had to do the rest of the race heavy with fuel, loosing even more.

As  I pulled out of the pits people where already lapping me. I was at 13 or something. But I settled in, and as the fuel burned I picked up pace, and as people crashed I picked up points too.

All in all a good race. Very nerve wrecking.

Gratz to those who finished without crashing. An achievement for sure.

So the jury says you owe me 10 :whistling2:

Had a good qualifying, being 2nd after the venga boy (or what ever name). Even the start from the left side worked fine as I managed to navigate through the chicane without incidents.

I had planned to use 40%+40% fuel strategy and pit halfway, but just before the race after the qual I had tested 80%. I was amazed how much less nervous it was compared to the 20% I had used all week. So I decided to put 80% of fuel. It wasn't quite as fast, but the easier driving compensated it.

In the race I tryed to drive very nicely avoiding any wheel slide. That worked some 10 laps because I was quite safely in the 2nd place. Then I had a bad lap and Dee arrived to my mirrors so I had to start pulling away. Rear tyres which had already started showing some red didn't like that. As they got hotter I started to slide more and then they got even hotter. I had hoped I would be able to drive as long as they get thinner and begin to cool.

Then I had a crash, so needed an early pit stop to repair it. Dropped to 8th (or something like that). Tryed to catch few places, with some risk, crash again in T1 chicane. Suspension busted in front and rear. I would have had to make almost 1 lap with that which was bit too much and I didn't want to cause problems to people still racing. So decided to retire.

So again one race down the toilet...can't even remember when I last time finished one

Congrats if you managed to finish

I stand corrected. The 10 lunch vouchers are in the post. :)

Was an interesting race. As Ive said, :)  I think the RAC seemed even more nervous/unforgiving due to the track, that chicane is a bugger no matter what car we would have been in. I remember the last time we where on that track was in the MRTs.  The concentration level was very tough, I found it very hard to even talk on Vent during the race.

The accident rate was very high, I can barely remember all the people who had bad things happen, such as Mr Slider, Deetz, Aquilifer, Romus.... commiserations to all you guys.

I only had one fairly bad accident. It was after poor old Slider had his crash he was limping back to the pits. I met him on the back part of the track on the left hander after the right hand turn at the "wall". He left plenty of room, but just as I entered that left the back end started stepping out and I couldn't correct. It really felt like slow motion while it was happening lol, I was like "nooooooooooooooo" :D, and then I collected him  , he spun round a few times but I managed to continue without too much bother. Sorry about that Dee, was unfortunate.

I had a few battles with a few different people, but the race was so hectic I can hardly remember them , I did have a nice scrap with Andy for the first few laps, heh heh me and you always seem to be going at it :) good racing mate.

well done all participants

I heard on the Dmr radio something about us MIF guys taking the trophies, the only trophy I'll be getting is Wally of the Week.

Had a good start, racing Deetz for a number of laps, then Aquilifer fell back and was chasing him for 2nd.  I was shocked when those two guys had separate crashes in the chicane on the same lap! leaving me in 2nd place, if I could finish...

Had a few PB's, but pushed too hard and I too crashed in the chicane of doom, with only 5 minutes to go!  Luckily I landed the right way up, suspension was broken on all four corners but just about driveable.  I struggled to get back to the pits while getting in Seany's way, It felt like slo-mo to me too, lol.

As I was crossing the bridge before the pits, I saw a poor Lameduck on his side, thought I'd give a helping nudge to right his car as I passed, at which point I think my front suspension burst through the bonnet flipping my car on to its roof, aaarg, so close to the end.
