As far as I know.
1.   In ALL official ED matches, demos are required from all players.
•   /record demofilename
•   /stoprecord

and the rules:

CoD4 (8) Demo Requests

As part of our ongoing attempt to enforce the ED rules we will be requesting match demos on a random basis. I'd like to remind you of the rules regarding the recording of demo's:-

1.   All official matches are to have Demos recorded by all players, whether demos are requested in the match settings or not. Demos are to be kept for a minimum of 10 days. Admins can request a demo from any player at anytime within the 10 days after the match being played and teams prior to conflicting can request a maximum of 2 demos from the opposition. Failure to submit the requested demos will result in the player being suspended. Failing to submit a demo on multiple occasions may result in the player being banned from EnemyDown. If a Clan Leader fails to submit a demo upon request it may lead to the removal of the clan from the EnemyDown Ladder.

The punishments for not submitting your demo's will be as follows:-

•   1st offence - 2 week ban from any matches
•   2nd offence - 1 month ban from any matches
•   3rd offence - 6 months ban from any matches
•   4th offence - 1 year ban from any matches

If your match is chosen please help us by following these guidelines before submitting them.

•   - Nominate one player to collect all your teams demos
•   - Name them correctly i.e. include the players name in the filename
•   - Zip them all up together and upload the file to the numerous free upload services show at the forum link below. If the zipfile is too large split it up and name accordingly i.e. yourclan-demos1.zip and yourclan-demos2.zip.
•   - PM the requesting Admin with the download location
•   - Assuming the demo's can be downloaded, they are all present and correct then you having else to do

If you have your demo's requested you will need to get them to us within 10 days that rule applies to the opposition team if they request them as well, failure to do this will result in the above punishment structure coming into affect. If you are having trouble getting them speak to us, don't just leave it thinking it's going to go away! No one likes dishing out bans so don't make us do it.

TEAMS THAT CONSTANTLY ABUSE THE DEMO REQUESTS MAY HAVE THE RIGHT REMOVED. THE ABILITY TO REQUEST DEMOS IS THERE TO ALLOW CLANS TO HOPEFULLY RESOLVE ANY ISSUE PRIOR TO A CONFLICT. CLANS CAN REQUEST ALL DEMOS OFF EVERY PLAYER FROM THE OPPOSITION THAT TAKES PART IN ANY ED MATCH

Read all the rules in ED page, and I know they are really long but we need to follow them presicely or the ban hammer will be used.

i beleive you type in the console :

/record demofilename

to start recording (filename of your choice)

/stoprecord

        to end recording

then if required to send it in, you retreive the file from your cod4/main/demos

i think....

to watch the demos after recording use this

Well, we got fairly well humped, but I think we did quite well considering we hadn't played ED rules before, and they obviously knew the maps and their tactics very well.

Good news is it looks like our performance may have been good enough to bag us 4th place in the ladder once it updates. :D

delankster

yeah they were annoyingly good (especially at bunny hopping) :sideways:

found it very hard to settle into any kind of rythmn
but as a first time out i'll  use it a learning curve.

was fun

Well done guys - that's the first one down

Did you pick up any new tactics, etc, that can be fed back to the rest of us?  Does our tactical approach work in matches?
-=[dMw]=-target

I write down everything I want to remember. That way, instead of spending a lot of time trying to remember what it is I wrote down, I spend the time looking for the paper I wrote it down on.

delankster

as said , they were very good at bouncing round corners.
Not sure if that would be adopted or even should be, but they definatly made it work :(
As for other tactic's i will watch the replay back tonight and see what i notice :)

Once we managed to get Punkbuster to allow us on it was good fun.  They defo knew all the vantage points and seemed to move from one to the other, rarely getting caught in the open.
I think it would make things easier if we all agreed names or codes for locations, I was sometimes a bit lost for words when trying to explain where someone was ( hes on the ladder up the alley by the doo daa thingy).
The mod was definately different but I did enjoy the game play ( one for the private server?), and it leveled the playing field some what with no radar or choppers etc.
Looking forward to the next one.

Well what a match. It's taken me 3 day to recover enough just to be able to talk about it:crying:

They did jump about a bit. Even though I don't like it, 99% of the world play  FPS's that way, so we're stuck there.:nope:

Our communication was just about ok for most of the game, but we do need to name places on the map. (Any volunteers)

Tactics and planning went to pot, 1st map we struggled to move anywhere on the the map without getting picked off, but it got better when we picked 2 parts of high ground on the map and defended each in turn until we were over run. 2nd map started close using the same tactics, but once they got a lead we fell about.

Personally I just got killed to many times. I was killing ok but K:D ratio was not pretty and my head dropped half way threw the second map. I just wanted it over :blush2:

Thoughts for the next match.

Avoid TDM. We play better with a clear objective. Our strong point from CS days has always been defending, lets play on that.

Practice. I popped on to the BoSs server 2 hours before the match and they were playing a full 4v4 practice session. So may be a later start time would let us play the maps before the game.

Next match guys. This was a hard one, but remember these guys are ranked number one on the ladder

Yeah, my only suggestion would be to play some easier teams. :D

personally i think i suffered from lack of match practice with the mod,
if Punkbuster had behaved, we may have had a bit of time before the match started to run thru a few things.:ranting2:

maybe next time we could get the team together a couple of nights before the match to run thru tactic's and remind ourselves of PAM 4

as for naming map sections i remember seeing a cod4 site somewhere with names for all the buildings and stuff. will have a look see if i can find it again :)

Some people were on Fridaynight for a runthrough of the Mod and it might eb a good idea yeah to have atleast a 4 vs 4 or higher then.

A suggestion for all, add CoD4 to your Steam so you can invite people through that.
Survivor of LAN V, VI, VIII, IX, X, XII, XIV, XVI, XVIII, XX, XXIV, XXX, XXXII, XXXIV and XXXVI so far...

:withstupid:
As I understand it, if you start CoD4 via the Steam games launch option, you can use the steam console whilst in game.
It's very handy for doing invites ("invite to game" does NOT work) and also for admin chat
