My HP2605dn colour laser is not performing well enough anymore so it's off to the kids playroom so they can print off their guff from Cbeebies and the like.

So I need a replacement. I've had an Epson C900 and a Samsung CLP550. Neither of which I've liked. The HP was OK but I'm thinking someone new.

Not had much experience with the likes of Lexmark, Canon, Xerox etc and I'm loathed to spend more than a few hundred quid. Anyone got any recommendations? Ideally the toners shouldn't cost the earth and it would be nice if it was network ready although not essential.

Doesn't need to be flashy or fast, just needs to print off nicely with occasional colour use.

Thanks

Very impressed with xerox wax. http://www.office.xerox.com/printers/color-printers/phaser-8560/engb.html

We've got two at work and they do work really well and are nice and cheap to run.

Only downside is you a: can't write on the prints and b: can't laminate the prints.

Cake: Four large eggs. One cup semi-sweet chocolate chips. Three/four cups butter or margarine. One and two third cups granulated sugar. Two cups all purpose flour. Fish shaped ethyl benzene. Twelve medium geosynthetic membranes. Three tablespoons rhubarb, on fire.

and if you want to move it you have to switch it off and leave it for ages or you run the risk of wrecking your printer.

They have a Dell colour laser at uni. Stunning print quality, prints "books" you select it from a list and when it comes out the printer it's printed both sides ready to be folded in half and read. It looks expensive, but if they do one in your price range it's probably reasonable.

true, but they are big old lumps that are not really meant to be moved :D

May i ask your budget Pen?

I gather your after one with a network socket rather than a simple usb socket.

Does it need to be colour or will black and white do?

I used to have a HP CP2020 at my last work, was a great little colour laser Jet printer although the toners were rather expensive, although depending on what your printing it can work out cheaper than ink jet.

My brother has the HP CP1510 model which isnt bad and around £100 instead of the 2020 which you can get for £200. But the 1510's toner cartridges are smaller and more expensive than the 2020 which really does confuse me :g:.

I believe there is a new model out replacing the 2020 the CP2025n which is around the £250 mark, but if you really want to pick up a bargain check ebay.

Thanks guys.

I'm going  to stay away from wax as I have no idea about them.

TL has given me lots of info so I think it's going to be an Epson C1100N for similar which is pretty cheap as £200 odd quid.

Thanks
