I've found that the sound is better on the original release DVD. (I have both FOTR versions)

The extended version is great to watch, but the sound doesn't lack the same punch that the original has.

That's interesting.  TBH I've not compared the Dolby Digital soundtracks between extended and non-extended versions; but I've found the DTS on the extended disc set to be a far superior listening experience than the Dolby track.

I agree with what you say about the extended version of the film, it just works better, but then I've always been a fan of the books.  I'll definitely be getting the new box set to sit alongside the first.

SS: if you want to buy the cinema version online, I've seen CD Wow! do it for £12.99.  Doesn't top Oldie's price, but doesn't include the need to spend £50 on groceries.

Is this the 9/11 DVD? Twin Towers? Are you referring to the Two Towers?  <_<

I just ordered the 4 DVD Directors Cut of FOTR for £17.99 from //www.play.com.   :D

Oh and by the way, I was helping Abbey Road Strudios with the transfer of the Sound Track for The Return of the King a few weeks ago  :narnar: . Quite impressive setup they have down there.
