with around 12 weeks until release do we have ant thoughts on the change over to Modern Warfare 2?

I suppose it would depend on the format i.e. if it was so similar to CoD4 that it made no sense to run the two in parallel then you might be best to just swing across to the new one. However, I suggest that you treat it like a new game initially and judge the impact it has on the existing CoD4 regulars.

I'm sure Whitey will be on hand to get a server up asap - let's just pray there's a robust dedicated server ready to go at launch :doh:

I really hope it's easier than ARMA II was and doesn't need the game DVD to do the install!

I think we will exacerbate our problems by spreading ourselves even more thinly.
I got Arma II but have had problems running the full game (demo was fine :blink:)
But I'm not that bothered TBH because I want to build the numbers on the CSS servers and CoD4 servers.

I would like to see us move over to MW2 with in a couple of weeks, I remember the css/cz split. a lot of people lke to play the latest and greatest version of a game

What are people's views on IW's decision not to support dedicated servers for MW2? Unless IW have a change of heart I'm struggling to see how we can possibly consider adopting this version officially without having the control that having your own server offers.

We can still have a forum section for it but it will be difficult to have as a supported game unless we can all use the same server. We shouldn't consider dropping CoD4 until/if there is a Dedicated server available that would allow us to configure it to our needs. A topic for the LAN meeting I'm sure.

Agreed, but there seems to be a massive consumer push for a dedicated server. Quite a few seem to have signed the petition. Not sure how it will ehlp though given their guarded comments about plans. I had planned a purchase too, but tbh am not at all sure I will buy when we cannot run our own.

Something to discuss further at the LAN meeting.
