Yup sounds good, damn Steam and their 'let's simplify this process and remove control from the server admins'
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

Just tried this with d34dm3n as the key and ended up somewhere else. Should I have used z0mb1fy instead?

Nope. It's d34dm3n.

Not working for me either, unless I'm doing it wrong.

make sure that there are no quotes, e.g.

+sv_search_key d34dm3n

Yep, that's what I've got. I then go to Play with Friends, Create New Lobby, Start Game... and it starts a local server on my PC.

I read in the L4D2 forums a bit and I've been playing with this setting:

Quotebind F10 "mm_dedicated_force_servers 77.108.129.45:27033,77.108.129.45:27032"

It forces it to connect only to those listed servers from a lobby.  I put it in a bind so that I can still join other servers, or I can just press F10 while in a lobby (as leader) and it joins our server when I start the game. Seems to work. :)

Which might explain why it was working for me ... Benny and I were playing with that command last night and I used it in an autoexec.cfg  :D

Just for completeness sake.

I blame the forum admin person.

Can we add '-nomaster' to the startup of one of the servers to test it?

It should stop it reporting in, therefore if we can still start a game, only those with friends on, or with the mm server stuff should be able to use it?

I hate pubbies...

I found a post that said there's a known bug where very occasionally a pubbie will be squirted into a 'closed' server.

I'll test the 'nomaster' thingy tomorrow.
