I met Ms Beckinsale at a party in Cambridge in the early 90's. She went to New College and had just finished filming a movie called The Prince of Jutland. There were loads of gormless university types there. I only remember her cause someone identified her as Richard Beckinsales (Godber from Porrige) daughter. As I remember she was bean-pole thin and smoked like a chimney.

Sorry to burst your love bubble for Kate, but she was a skinny thing and worked her way through an entire packet of fags that night.

She wasn't much of a looker at all and she was wearing a stupid bobble hat with ear flaps. Being a very minor celeb the only reason I or anyone else there remembered her was due to her famous dad.

Of course now she's a 'Queen Babe from Babelonia'

But her sister wasn't in The Prince of Jutland. I remember that bit as she kept going on about working with Gabriel Burn and Helen Mirren.
