I decided to go back to the HTC stock ROM as, apart from the techie fun side, I never got much out of the custom ROMs.

So the 1st part update was immediately flagged up and installed without a hitch.

The 2nd part (full 2.1) installed at 17:30 tonight and, again, the install was quick and totally painless. I was pleasantly surprised to note that the update was totally non-destructive and all my apps and messages etc. were still intact.

First impressions are excellent - the test will be the battery life - something that caused issues on the custom jobbies.
