I am looking for a new joystick for use with BF and ARMA and I am looking for some recommendations.

I am not looking to spend a fortune as most of the time it will be sitting on the desk unused, but I would like something functional, and easy to use to make flying easier.

So far this one has caught my eye as people seem to be raving about it. Its in about the right pricing bracket too.

Anyone else got some recommendations?

Thanks in advance .

I don't know anything about joysticks, but just look at this beauty.

IF you are only using it for FPS then all you need is an xbox360 controller for windows.
I just have mine sitting on my lap ready for when I jump in.

The problem with those controllers is they are huge and they just get in the way.
If you want to start playing flying games then I recommend an X52 for an for entry level setup.
They are going dirt cheap ATM as the X52 pro has replaced it.

As Naldo says a 360 controller is a good middle ground. I use mine for driving or flying etc in games that are otherwise keyboard and mouse oriented. As far as a joystick goes I haven't bought one for years and years but the last one I bought was Logitech and it's still works when I last tried it. That says something for it's build quality.

I have Xbox controllers coming out of my ears so I might give it a try with that for flying as I already use for racing sims.

I had a look at the x52 in a local PC shop and I wasn't impressed. Also there are serious issues with windows 7 x64 drivers etc.

I might put this plan on hold for a bit then.

Cheers.

I take it you really need something just for flight dynamics, in which case the simpler the better, the ones suggested are pretty much for people who will be doing simulation flying.

I have a nice Saitek ST-90 that I used to use for planes in BF2, I tend to stick with mouse nowadays for most, although I really should plug in the ST90 for the planes in Arma.

The ST-90 has a small footprint and actually folds away when not in use, the tripod legs are very stable and it has a few fire buttons and digital throttle.

If you want a few more buttons and controls, then the Trust Predator GM2500 joystick has an analogue slide throttle, 12 definable buttons and you can twist the joystick left and right for rudder controls.

Both are cheap, small footprint and perfect for BFBC2 and Arma, as you'll only really be using them about 5% of the time during games, although they might be hard to get hold of, been a while since I bought mine.

failing that you could never go wrong with a microsoft sidewinder forcefeedback 2......only prob is you cant get them new and they can be expensive on flea bay, i have the same one for 13 yrs now and its never let me down and works at treat in flight sim games and stuff like arma2 and bf2
