So some of you may have been wondering where I have been. No one moaning on TS and posting stupidly large photos on the forums to kill your browser.
I got called away at the last minute (got told at 10pm and left the house at 3am) to go out to the US for work. I took the 30 hours worth of connecting flights via Chicago and god knows where else to get to Phoenix AZ.

The weather is good here; 25c and not a cloud in the sky, but it is very cold in the mountains 200 miles north of Phoenix, as there is lots of snow which is great for skiing and winter sports.

There is nothing within a 200 miles radius of Phoenix of any worth and Phoenix itself, (while the biggest city in the US, over 60 miles across in terms of distance and contains 6 million people) has nothing to do as its a new city so has no heritage.

I went to see the Grand Canyon for my Birthday so I didn't feel too sorry for myself as I am on my own out here. In the end it turned into a pretty epic weekend as it was a 700 mile road trip across water-less desert, snowy mountains and cavernous red rock valleys with beautiful green forests. I got to see the sun come up and set over the grand canyon and Arizona desert and mountains. Lots of driving and tiring but I am so glad i did it.

I am driving a V8 4.6 liter police car out here (ford crown victoria), which is interesting to drive as it makes a lot of noise but lumbers about like a dewgong/sea cow or whatever you call it. Its also famous for being a New York taxi cab as well as a police vehicle. Even though it cannot corner, its as long as a bus, has the blind spot from hell and is as practical to park as a 747 I am beginning to fall for its charms as its been my one and only companion out here, sharing so many once in a lifetime experiences.

The people here I have to say are the best in the US I have met so far. Very different from the NY and LA posers who wont give you the time of day.

The roads here are battlegrounds and they cannot drive out here! I have seen more accidents in my 3 weeks here than in a lifetime in the UK. Saying that you need a car out here and there are very few pavements so no walking. Coupled with a no tolerance dink drive policy by the police in AZ and how spread out the city is its pretty much impossible to go out for a beer here. No one goes out anyway, there are no clubs or nightlife to speak of.

No clue when I am coming home yet but hopefully by the end of the month as I miss friends and family badly.

Take care all and I will play some games with you when I get back.

nice photos mate, i remember walking round tucson about 4 years ago on one of my state sponsored vacations and theses guys stopped in their car and called me and my mates hobo's and said  "dudes get a car"......they then drove off.  Weird but the us air force guys at the base said that " it's the way folks think round here"

I came into this world with nothing,
through careful management I\'ve got most of it left.
