I am currently running 2 x HD4870 512mb in crossfire mode and they've been coping pretty well. But with ARMA III and B:AC and BL2 and other new games coming out they are starting to struggle.

So I thought about getting myself one of these to replace them.

What'dya think? :sideways:

Oh and my CPU is an AMD Phenom X4 9950 2.60GHz Quad Core, with 4GB RAM.
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

I'd be interested in any thoughts as well about that card.

I've an Intel Core2 Extreme  Q 6850 3.00GHz CPU and two SLI Nvidia GTX 260 GPU's, So I'm not sure my bottle neck is the CPU, and a GPU upgrade would be pointless.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

the new 7790 is a bit of a odd card, it struggles agaisnt other cards in its own price range, id probably suggest spending a few more bucks on

My worry is that my PSU and CPU would not cope with too big a card, but the new cards seem to have a lower power requirement. I've got a 750w PSU and if it'll run a 7800 series then I'd be tempted to go for a 7870, how does the Sapphire compare to the Gigabyte, ASUS and the HIS? They all seem to cost the same £199:99, Or should I go for the 7850 with 4GB memory?

depending if you wanna break £200, or stay below

even £200
Gigabyte 7870 Windforce (note the core speed is clocked to 1100mhz (thats a fair bit!)
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-099-GI&groupid=701&catid=56

£161
VTX3D HD 7850 X-Edition (has a fair bit of factory overclock)
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-011-VX&groupid=701&catid=56

£240
Gigabyte 7950 Windforce 3x (the missus has one, and i think old bloke has one) blazing fast cards for the price
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-098-GI&groupid=701&catid=56

from nVIDIA

£161
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 WindForce 2X
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-109-GI&groupid=701&catid=1914

£220
MSI GeForce GTX 660Ti Black Knight OC

If you want my suggestion, go for the Gigabyte 7870, you hit a brilliant price/performance ratio there, and the card is rocking fast.
Currently nVIDIA struggles in upper midrange segment, they dont really have the same price/performance as ATI at the moment, if you got a nVIDIA perference id suggest the 660TI, sadly it struggles agaisnt stock 7870 which are cheaper and faster (at certain things)

well if your cpu would cap the 7870, it would also cap the 7790.
Your 750watt should be more then sufficient, as the 7870 draws less power then a single 4870 ;)

the asus cards are quite good, tho i find their DirectCU cards make a lot of noise
its pretty much comes down to the cooler vs price, currently i advise people to buy the Gigabyte cards as their Windforce cooler is absolutely brilliant, and their preclocked cards run perfect. (as stated the missus has a 7950 which is listed as 900mhz, it was shipped as 1000mhz on the core, and i bumped it to 1100mhz without issues) And i noticed the Gigabyte Windforce 7870 is actually clocked at 1100mhz stock

About the HIS HD 7850 iPower IceQ Turbo 4096M, its a bit of a odd card, as you usually only place that amount of memory on a card, if your meant to run High AA or multi monitor gaming, which isnt really what the card is aimed at, the 7870 has more GPU power, which you would benefit a lot more from
