Steam Client Error

Without warning Steam is failing to start. The Steam crash dump log thing is saying "The thread tried to read from or write to a virtual address for which it does not have the appropriate access" That's about teh only thing I can find in the Steam folder that helps.

Complete uninstalls of all Steam and game files, reinstalls, registry clean ups etc etc seem to have no effect.  I've turned off all extraneous apps including Kaspersky but no joy. I see the Steam update box, the log in box (plus the verification code request (fresh install) and then nothing. There's a ticket logged with Steam Support but on the off chance that someone has had this issue before I wondered if anyone had any advice?

The log hints at a permissions type error. Tried running install as administrator?

Will do, although I'm  not sure why Steam went wonky in the first place though. Computers eh.

Disable UAC and Steam works fine. Why? I have no idea. Downloading Arma 3 although maybe not quick enough for tonight. Should have backed up my game folder before I deleted Steam ....... :sad:
