Installed yesterday as a freebie from nPower.

Superb piece of kit and I'm very impressed. Will report back when I've had it a while and it's learned my schedule.

Looking forward to hearing your views.

Also getting one as part of some jobs that we're having done in the new year. Looking forward to the update. I'm hoping it's going to help with heating costs as we both work variable hours and the heating is often onb when we're out and off when we're home.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

They are pretty good if you've got a combi, but they don't have any control over the hot water, also I heard that people can find out when you're in or on holiday due to the data it sends back.

I've looked at those but our house has a really weird heating system that no engineer really knows what to do with. Gas Boiler + Boilermate (thermal store), it's put me off self installing.

Dunno what the fuss is.
Around this time last year I moved into this house and in no short order ripped out the gas fired hot air blower in the hall (condemned model when I was a kid - takes your eye brows off) and installed Combi boiler and rads.
Self installed? Not on your nelly. Too much complicated piping.
One year later I think I need 2 more rads installed to even the heat distribution.

Back on topic, I ,got myself a thermostat wall mounted which works really well.
Wirelessly talks to the combi and turns it on when needed, although I'll move it to the coldest part of the house - oddly enough where my gaming PC lives!

What does this nPower device do that mine doesn't?

This is the clearest evidence I have seen for years.  There's no way you're computer room should be cold, you need more volts.

Installed one of these when they first were available in the new UK format and was waiting for the cold weather to give it a full testing. Brilliant bit of kit so far, its saving me a packet.

There should be an update this month or next that will integrate the Nest with Google Now so it will know where you are and turn it on before you get home if you want. And also you can talk to Google Now to tell it to turn on if you so please. (Cue Michael Knight talking to an android watch telling his heating to turn on)

Any questions, ask away.

Nice!

It will be interesting to see what time Google Now decides is a nice time to turn on my heating when I'm leaving for home. And considering I didn't see an option to set for a returning to home temperature I don't think it will work at all.

As for the voice commands, very gimmicky. However I can now type into the chrome searchbox when I am logged into Google to turn the heating to 20 and it does it from there too. Which is brilliantly dangerous! I best never let anyone here at work find that out :eyebrow: althought I am pretty good at locking the screen when AFK.
