Well, I took the jump and installed the new Win 10 preview, and got to say, I'm lovin' it!

Can be downloaded as an ISO image or USB install, or simply as an update (in Windows Update) to your existing Win 8 or Win 7 installation (which is what I did, but cloned the Win 7 installation to another drive first). I wanted to see how it would integrate with an existing installation, and it is almost seamless.

The installation took about 35 minutes after a restart, after which all my existing apps, the compatible ones, behaved in exactly the same way as they previously did in Win 7 Pro. This included Steam, Chrome (all data complete, including saved passwords), Logitech moose, Realtek Audio.  Start-up time after post is 55 secs, as opposed to 1m. 15 secs win 7.

Naturally, all the mail settings disappeared, with the exception of Gmail, which is encased in Chrome. But, adding these other accounts was a doddle in the mail app, very straightforward if you know the IMAP and SMTP settings.

I did have to re-install my GPU drivers, which are the same as for Win 7 & 8, without problem.

Anyone else experimenting?

Turns out the 'shellshock bug' has been ported to win10

I'm watching closely but as my PC is crucial for work I don't think I'll be messing with my existing install.

I'll certainly grab a key to the early adopters version' if it becomes available. Right now I'm running Windows 8.1 Pro which cost me £10.00ish back when it was first released (yes I did the bugged "I've just bought a new PC where's my upgrade to Windows 8?" thing).

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Ditto here.  I'll upgrade when it is stable.

Tested it a bit today. So far, I hate it. It seems responsive and quick, but they kept too much of win8 in it. It's just a preview though, so things may change. I just hope they release it with an option to turn off the excessive userfriendlyness, to make it tolerable for us techie types. I hate that the OS assumes I don't know what I'm looking for or what it's called.

I poked at it on a VM at work. Seems ok, felt very much like Win 8 with a nice Start menu. Performance was good, though hard to judge accurately on a VM with low resources.

I didn't see anything to get excited about.

Think I'll dual boot it on my laptop to see how it is, wasn't a fan of win8 but with the start button back it might change my mind on the way it can be used.

Did they fix the issue with settings being all over the place, or is GodMode still needed?
