Hi everyone,

I know that there are a few people around that like to use TrackIR when playing Arma (as well as some other games) and for a while I've really been wanting to get hold of one.

I was looking around and there are a few options - there is the "webcam" type tracker, there's a Track clip and some other funky stuff - but I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be getting. I know there are a few other programs that need you to strap a load of LEDs to your head with a headset, some just need the webcam tacker. Basically I don't know what I'm doing.

Also, I'd like to ask the people that did buy one - Where did you get it from? How much does it cost? and Do you prefer to use TrackIR now you have it/Is it better than playing without it?

Cheers

I have to say the price is a travesty, it has shot up in recent months due to demand but there is nothing better and more effortless than the TrackIR5:

The Pro Clip is the only add on really recommended because the default reflective strip means having to wear a cap. The pro clip fits onto headphones.

The TrackIR just works. Of course it isn't VR but it works on many games and you don't have to do much more than plug and play for it to take over the look function.

There are a few guys have build DIY versions, Arcon did for Elite and he was quite happy with it but it was more temperamental and needed more TLC to keep working well.

You might find it cheaper than the Flight Sim Store but they were cheapest 6 months ago and I notice their price is up 20 quid.

Ah, Okay thanks. Do you recommend it for the price? Is it worth it?

Yes. I'd be lost without it.

I bought Track IR last September and use it extensively in Flight Sims and Elite Dangerous. Its also good with Live for Speed and Assetto Corsa. Very easy to set up and there are numerous game profiles available on t'interweb.
My wife bought me the Proclip as she said I looked "bloody ridiculous wearing a baseball cap at your age" and I must admit the proclip is excellent. Whilst I have seen many reviews doubting the strength of the Proclip fittings, I've not had any problems.
The price though seems to have gone through the roof as I (we) paid less than £140 for the kit and kaboogleand I consider it a good purchase.
