Quote from: Tutonic;404138Have you tried temporarily removing the Asus sound card and running the game using your motherboards on-board sound?

That will at least tell us if the problem is specific to the Asus card, which I suspect it is. Your next stop should then be to post the issue on the SC boards - I'm sure their dev team will want to investigate this sort of hardware incompatibility.
That's a good idea as the STX2 is a damn decent and well above average quality sound card.

Cross-posted to RSI hardware section to see if anyone has any bright ideas.

No I have not, and will not.
The onboard sound has a very noticeable hum on both lineout sockets - one of the reasons for investing in a quality sound card.

I'm not suggesting you use it permanently, but trying to re-produce the issue without the Asus card plugged in will help you to narrow down the cause of the issue.

I'm just trying to help you troubleshoot the problem, not tell you what hardware to use.

+1

It rules out or in the Asus as the cause of the problem if you do this test.

Couple of replies on RSI:

QuoteMy advice, from someone who uses a Asus Xonar D2X.

Get your friend to install these drivers:

QuoteHas he tried setting 48KHz (24 bit) sample rate in both Windows and Xonar Essence STX Audio Center? I have STX I and I have noticed some game engines don't support higher than 48KHz sounds. With 48KHz 24bit I haven't had any problems.
