**** this.
I've now been over 2 months since I can even play anything, no hanger, no swarm, even the ******* launcher freezes if I forget to either 1) delete the audio files or 2) drop my audio fidelity to sub walkman levels.

Am I angry? **** yes I am! "please download the new launcher and fulll game" . AND AGAIN AND AGAIN.
For a game that preaches maximum fidelity, it's more like maximum ****up.

Yes, this is supposedly ALPHA, but if **** wont run, I want my original arena commander back.

Sorry to rant here, but I'm out of channels.
I'm bored of filing the same bug over and over, moderates marking it dup in the official forums and zero official responece forthcoming.

So is anyone else in DMW experience launching problems, or am I the only one and venting my wrarth on your all needlessly?

Galatoni

I've not. But that doesn't mean there is not a problem. Lets start from the top.

I'm not sure how technical you are, but if you want we could run through a complete system diagnostic and see if its something fundamental first. Are you down for that?

Yeah, I must be one of the lucky ones, because I've never encountered an issue with the launcher.

I've had my share of crashes, of course, but the launcher/patcher has always just worked for me.

I understand your frustration: I hate it when things should simply work, but then don't, so vent away, you have my sympathy.

Happy to try and help resolve your issue in any way I can.

I've never hear of having to delete audio files before - that sounds a bit drastic! Following the release of 1.1.6 I did have to update the drivers for my motherboard in order to get things working as they had been broken by an upgrade to Win10 and we're stopping things like sound and microphone from working, but that's as close as I've come, I think.

Now I think about it, I did get a small problem when launching 1.2 on the PTU for the first time, and had to use Verify Files in the Options menu to get the launcher to work. Bit of a long shot, but have you tried that at all?

albert

I had a launcher problem but only on a machine of a low spec. It seems what most people would regard as medium spec is more like the minimum for the game right now.

What sort of rig are you running on?
Cheers, Bert

Twisted, why not post your system details and include the hardware you are running.   Something in the back of my grey matter seems to recall you running something unusual on the sound side of things (apologies if I got that wrong) so make sure you include everything and lets try to work through it and solve it together.  I'm guessing that it has to be hardware/driver related if clean installs did not work, particularly since the new launcher was a fresh install iirc?

Sorry for the initial rage with over use of colourful metaphors.
I have now removed the game entirely from my disk and will re-visit the game in a few months.

For the record, my soundcard is an ASUS STX2.

TeaLeaf

Ok Twisted, I hope the reinstall goes better.   I've heard of remarkably few issues at all with SC, so I think you have been really unlucky and have my sympathy.  Fingers crossed for the reinstall!

The Asus drivers can sometimes be a little flaky, have the tried the alternatives from HERE. Been known to fix loads of sound based problems with the Asus cards.

Thanks for that, but the STX2 driver they have is the same as the latest offical ASUS one, whereas the other drivers they have are newer.

TeaLeaf

Perhaps it really is an ASUS issue.  I don't understand the technicalities oif how it crashes SC, but whatever the issue I hope it will be sorted in the coming months.

I've read some posts suggesting that its the old school irq table. Apparently its possible to dedicate one to the device rather than have it use another one (which causes the crash) does you mother board have onboard sound? If so is it disabled?

Twisted, whilst we're waiting could you post your hardware and then describe the problem in detail please?   There's a lot of help available here on the forums and at the moment we don't have any detail of what the actual problem is so can't really offer much help.

i4670 @ 4.2 Ghz (removing the overlock does not address the issue)
MSI Gaming z87-g45 motherboard
GTX 770
16G DDR4
Samsumg EVO 840
TPLink wireless card
ASUS STX2

Problem - Launcher freezes if sample rate is >96Khz
Problem - Game and Launcher has scratchy sound, plenty of white noise
Problem - Game also freezes intermittently

Games I'm currently playing without sound issues - SWTOR, GuildWars 2, ESO, Toxxik, Unreal Tournament.

Yes it has and yes it is disabled.

Tutonic

Have you tried temporarily removing the Asus sound card and running the game using your motherboards on-board sound?

That will at least tell us if the problem is specific to the Asus card, which I suspect it is. Your next stop should then be to post the issue on the SC boards - I'm sure their dev team will want to investigate this sort of hardware incompatibility.
