Success! I have it downloading a fresh copy now.
My fix was to change the output audio device away from the usual STX2 to the razor surround crapware.
Then I disabled audio in the launcher and changed the default audio device back.

I'm downloading the new version now 80Mbps, 42 minutes total. The rest of the LAN is slow but who cares.

They updated the music with this new launcher.
It's similar, but a lot better as there's more variation, but keeps a nice pumping rhythm with the classical beats.

Looks like I'll be listening to it for another 2 hours before this update downloads!
I really hope the joystick works better with this version and I can actually complete the landing in the tutorial :)
