SC 1.1.6 - important install instructions

Star Citizen 1.1.6 is now out with a new launcher and it means you need to uninstall the old version of Star Citizen.  Install instructions and the link to download the new launcher are below.

We are pleased to announce that Star Citizen Alpha 1.1.6 is now live! 1.1.6 includes the brand new Star Citizen launcher, a number of bug fixes and balance changes. You can find the complete patch notes here.

Alpha 1.1.6 introduces matchmaking logic that will now match players against each other based on past performance, as well as made several changes to rules of Vanduul Swarm, Battle Royale, and Squadron Battle.

Also, we are deprecating the old Launcher v1.6.3 with the new Launcher v2.3.4 today, which drastically improves download speeds, using up to 100% of your available bandwidth. It also currently uses non-P2P torrent technology to only replace the files you need. This Launcher is also built 100% in-house (as opposed to the old one that used third party technology) so we’re excited to continue to improve the user experience and integrate more user-friendly features at the click of a button.

I am seeing far higher download speeds than I used to, so whatever they have done seems to be working.   It's a 25GB download and I'm seeing in excess of 20MB/s (160+Mbps) most of the time (see picture).

Not sure if I have had the music turned off on the launcher since the beginning, but I heard it this morning for the first time and like it!

It's really weird and perhaps just on my rig but when I go to launch Star Citizen it hangs on the login. I can't even type my name or PW.

If you are using the OLD launcher it will hang on log in.  You need to follow the above instructions and download the NEW launcher (and uninstall the old version of SC).   Treat this one like a fresh installation.

If your launcher desktop icon is still black then it is the old one.   Look for a new white one with the CIG logo on your desktop.   The new one does not replace the old icon, it's a brand new one.

all I see in the bottom left of the SC screen is V2.3.7 hangs almost instantly.

Bottom right should say client 1.1.6, but it sounds like you have the updated launcher.

Did you update the firewall to allow it access to the internet?

It does when you eventually get passed the login screen. Managed to get that far but then it crashes.. It's bugged for me so I'm going to leave it.

Go to settings on the launcher and do a validate fiels (or whatever it is called).

Same problem here. Using Win10, latest patches etc etc.
