ill be getting doom3 as well.

tbh i dont really understand ppls obsession with comparing these 2 games. They only thing they gonna have in common is the fps bit, they (imo) have completely different selling points.

Doom 3 is more a horror, scifi shoot em up. HL2 is gonna be more story based. Maybe im wrong there, im not a big doom 3 follower.

I sent off my HL2 voucher that came with my Radeon but I'm predicting a 0% chance that any game will arrive once it's released, so I'm just going to go out and buy it when it's in the shops.

Probably buy Doom 3 as well when it comes out, as long as it works on my 9600XT

That means they have postponed hl2 again as it was for mid summer now its late summer! Doom3 should be summer release but we haven't heard anything!

id never announce release dates in advance - they'll tell you when the game goes gold, and not a moment before.

Sadly Amazon have something of a repurtation for advertising release dates without any certainty that they are solid. I guess it helps them drum up some advanced sales. However the fact that they have given a day at all is encouraging.

It also means my CPU upgrade is getting more imminent :unsure:

Well up until recently they just said autumn 2004 so I'm taking 3 Sep as a positive move in the right direction.
