Time for a password change peeps...!

I noticed a new player on the server tonight called [iQ] FuLL_SySteM_PurGE (WONID 1093473). I asked him if he had registered or got the password, he answered that Toxteth O'Grady (WONID 884611) gave the pw to him. If it has happened once, it has happened a thousand times.

1. Doggers, please could you organise a mass mailing and change the pw for MH? We will probably need a note on the forums for peeps who don't read their email, but I can handle that end of it if the mailing goes out.

2. Toxteth ought to be sent an email from AdminJudge@deadmen.co.uk (DM/Stryker can you organise?) reminding him that distributing the pw is forbidden. I gave him a good slapping in the server, but you may want to add something yourself. Afterall, registration for MH is free, so what more do they want eh?

3. I have updated the Player standards to reflect the no distribution of the pw bit.

4. This reiterates the need for an Admin system that can identify a player's WONID against a known list of registered players. It's ironic really, if a player called [iQ] hadn't been so stupid as to tell me he was given the pw by Tox we would never have known! I know that there was some talk of a system for this in the past and I think from memory that Stryker (?) was going to write something that could allow us to check against registered player lists? Admins should be able to check against the list for known players. How do we get this to happen?

There is (dare I say it) a mod available. Details are :

If your MySQL server is not close enough to your game server (then causing lags every time a player tries to connect), you can ask for your players table to be loaded into memory at map start.

You can also provide a string to append to MySQL query (to restrict access to a few registered users only, for example a clan check if the server is only for a clan).

Now this needs looking a little bit more in depth....

When i first came onto MH i did not register and neither did most of the uk-tmf guys aswell as madness..But after seeing what a good game it was we registered
Now i personally didnt see a great problem with this because the guy was a decent fella and asked if we wanted him to leave so in this case i would let it slide...but if the bloke was an idiot then we could give tox a warning, i think it may be a little extreme to change things on this one incident.

Wont this cause even more problems that when we still havnt sorted the old ones are not needed ....and in the eventuallity that we need to play a match on MH it would have to be disabled.

Between now and sometime during the w/end I will be rebuilding the HL/CS part of the server from scratch in order to unravel the various configs that conspire to prevent even me from using rcon now.

Smite, I appreciate that this chap was a goodun, but as you said, the interlopers will not always be good - and we will not always be there to know which. A pw change is no big thing and wouldn't take long, but we wouldn't need to do a pw change if entry to the server also checked against your WONID (like N42's system). So I guess that in a way you are right, maybe we don't need to change the pw, but only if we get WONIDs checked on the way in to the server? Otherwise we'll have no idea of who has been on and whether they were MisterEggs or bad eggs.
