hi, i'm just about to build my l33t CS machine after hearing i can get broadband , so i was just wandering why the P4 3.0 E with 1 meg cache costs less than a P4 3.0 512 kb cache

Because it is basically a stop gap to plug a performance hole.  Avoid it if you can jump to other architechtures as it costs sooo much.

That one is very simple.

The 1mb one doesn't work on most of the p4 mainboards.
The 512 one works on all p4 mainboards.

how will i know if the 1 mg works on my mobo?

is the fan that comes with the cpu good enough, or shud i get a new 1 ? dunno which are the best for under bout 50 pounds

You get a fan with your new cpu and that one is k.

But i don't know how you can know if the 1mb works on your mainboard.

Sometimes you check the specs of your mainboard and they say it will work but then it doesn't.

I know some of matsonic and asus where the 1mb will work on but i dunno anything about the one you want

k, so i shud stick with the 512 to be safe, the cpu with the P4 wnt fit, cuz its the new P4 socket on the mobo, and i havnt seen any of the new fan types to fit it yet... any idea where i can get 1?

for the p4 with 1mb cache you need a new mb as pointed out above! Plus there are currently very few companies making the boards and the ones that are about are not very high spec e.g they do not have lots of pci slots! only 2 in some cases! I am only going by what overclockers is currently stocking tho!

the mobo i'm getting only has 2 pci, and a pci express
