Right ive been building this pc for my parents, ive had endless of problems with it. Ive bought a new cpu some new memory though i have a problem that when ever i get it working and move it or put the cover back on it doesnt switch the monitor on.

I then mess around with it a bit more and it seems to work until i try to get the case back on. At the moment the side panel is off and sort of working. Any1 see the problem.

Its a AMD 2400 Sepron?,
512 Mb Crusial 2700 DDR RAM,
GigaByte mb,
550W PSU
Cd player and 40Gb Hard Drive
geForce avg card?

Do you have the power connected when you put the case back on?

Sure you're not moving any leads when putting the sides on. If it works ok without the side then it sounds like a physical thing rather than a problem with what you're building it with.
My tuppence worth, though with inflation it should be about 2 and 6.
I do exactly what the little voices tell me to.

PC Specs:- Black box with some fans that go whirrr, a few lights, things inside that get warm, headphones, keyboard (a clicky one), mouse (with buttons and no squeak), disks (2-off SSD and HDD) and a monitor of sufficient proportions.

Make sure the cover is seated correctly. We have a model of PC at work that is notorious for this.

I dunno how to explain this in english.

But it can also be something with your mainboard that it has to much power (electric power) on some point. And that causes problems when the case is put back in its place.

A time ago we had the same kind of problem (at my work) and then it was a power problem :(

Cheers for your suggestions, think ill try a smaller psu.  And ive put the case on when its disconnected and connected the same result anyway cheers.
