Forum and website went down last night due to a DNS issue. The issue being that we had forgotten that the domain records pointed at an old Crosswired box (ns0.crosswired), which was probably taken offline for maintenance.

Stryker moved the domain into my Domaincity account this morning and as soon as it registered in my control panel I added deadmen.co.uk to my Zonedit control panel and changed the A records for www. .deadmen and forum. to point at 82.197.65.244.

The DNS records for the deadmen.co.uk domain were also changed to point at the Zonedit.com name servers.  The ns0.crosswired is back up, but the changes to DNS should ripple through shortly and avoid the same thing happening agian in the future!

Sorry for the down time fellas.

Don't know.

I think the server had died as I couldn't ping the IP address.

Always remember we have a backup forum at Deadmen Limping :)

Gandalf

yup. I lost all communication to blue. A call to the rack hosts got it back. Unknown outage though. Nothing in the logs to say why it went down.

Apologies for any inconvenience.

Although the game servers run on a different IP are they on the same physical server as the web and forum? Just wondering if it was the NIC that froze?

Gandalf

nope. seperate box. Game servers are Windows. Web and forums are Linux.
