Not flown any of the choppers yet. but I'm guessing the hind will be a bit like a bus :).

On the contrary. That HIND is extremly maneuverable. Takes some getting used to.

It would be good if we could add SF maps in to our normal map rotation. I guess we will just end up starting the SF server on special occasions.

Morning Arm, I'm not sure if this what your talking about, but people are starting to mix things up a bit... see this thread

So now you guys have played it a bit more, what are your thoughts on the maps, weapons, extras?

I haven't played it yet (just got the game today at work) but I still dream of revisting Karkand 2 - what a cracking map that is, would be lots of fun with zips and grap/hooks  :D  You'd be like spidey!

Not sure I'm a fan of the night games. NV goggles are ok, but it's a bit like playing a monochrome game :). I like the idea of zip lines a grappling hooks. first impressions of the maps is that they are more infantry based, which will be good for us.

Not flown any of the choppers yet. but I'm guessing the hind will be a bit like a bus :).

I have driven the quad bike. where the hell are the arms  The Hummer with TOW would be great in Standard BF2 but not seen a tank in SF to shoot.
I think any BF2 fan will like the game, but is it worth £20! not sure. It would be good if we could add SF maps in to our normal map rotation. I guess we will just end up starting the SF server on special occasions.

Well, had a go now...Only on single player as yet - but it gives me an idea.

THE GOOD:

1) Both day-time SAS maps are great - like the Russian one with the rocket, these seem good candidates for AAS. ALSO, I do like the SEAL night time map where you have to fight your way up a big hill (but this is the only night map I like).

2) All the new G36 models - EVEN the support MG!

3) The quad bike - fun, fun, fun (wish they had included your hands on the handle bars though - bit strange the bike appearing to steer itself!).

4) The tear-gas and flash-bangs. Nice tactical addition.

THE BAD:

1) The night maps...Not as much fun as they were cracked up to be (except the SEAL one which I mentioned).

2) The SCAR-H ~ bit disappointed. :( I found that the 7.62mm round, while hard-hitting, was less accurate than the 5.56mm version of this rifle that the Spec Ops has. On automatic the SCAR-H bucked all over the place.

3) THE LAG - the Spec Ops maps seem to use more system resources/memory than the original BF2 maps (why?)...I had the basic BF2 maps hyked up to High quality graphics, I have had to drop the res/quality to run the Spec Ops! :(

4) The SAS assault weapon...Is it me or is this really inaccurate and the 'scope' doesn't help all that much.

Poo.

SF on publics remind me of unreal Tournament. I have played it a few times now. the maps are too small, it's just a frag fest.

I think it will work with 12 dmw guys using AAS but i don't think i'll be playing it much more on publics. not even ranked servers :ranting:

Ranger

Well - had my first ranked server game with SF last night...

'Total Devastation' map (which I like anyway) on a French server.

This is a day-light map, so some of the critisims that people have made about teh night maps don't count here ~ I actually think this will make a superb AAS map. Lots of variety of scenery and chances to sneak round.

BMP is the thing to watch out for - but there are plenty of buildings for infantry to sneak around in and teh narrow lanes between the buildings mean that Special Forces have plenty of chance to C4 the BMPs...So it's nicely ballanced.

I understand what Armitage means about a frag fest - but I think this is more to do with the usual public server attitude of some people than a fault of the maps themselves...

I played Special Forces class (which seems to be my new class of choice) and I am glad to say that I upheld the dMw honor by coming a very creditable 2nd!!!

(I was well pleased.)

As for teh night maps - wel, I will reserve judgement, but I suspect that only Devils Perch will prove poular...The SAS airport one is just very badly designed and disappointing.
