Thought it might be interesting to start a favourite car thread. Use the following format and tell us about your favourite motor and why you like it!  :dribble:

If you have 2 or 3 cars feel feel to tell us about all of them.

I'll start:

Which car do you drive the most?

Mini.

Why is this your favourite car?

So far its the only one I could afford and have played a lot, so I'm comfortable with the handling and like its maneuvarability - theres also the david and goliath aspect I like beating more powerful engined cars with the little mini.

What are your setup tips for this car?

Well I really don't like understeer - so I try and tune my setup to dial in slight oversteer ie drop psi in front tires etc

What driving style do you use for this car?

I try and keep speed through corners as much as I can (duh!) to make up for its relative lack of umph compared to the higher hp cars, its a very forgiving car and as a beginner helps build confidence.

Whats your best lap time with this car on any circuit?

Erm not sure I'll check tonight.

Used to be Mini, I too hated the understeer but then I have not yet started playing with any car set ups to dial in more oversteer.

Now I like the Cortina more, it is defintely faster and got less understeer, but I need to learn to be less heavy on the brakes or change the brake bias more towards the front - not even sure if there is such a control I can adjust

I'm reasonably certain that I will move 'up' a car or so soon to something a bit mroe powerful, but I need to learn to tweak what I have before moving on I think.

No idea on times, although I think I did a 2min flat in a Cortina at Misano in my second run at that track with Doorman just prior to the LAN.

TL, yes there is a brake bias you can change, you can even do this ingame on the fly using [ ] keys. This can help to stop the car breaking away from the rear, when your heavy on the brakes.

I struggle with the Cortina on understeer, but its probably just my driving  :D

Which car do you drive the most?

Ford Falcon (for a little while now at least, used to be Mini).

Why is this your favourite car?

It is reasonably fast on the straights. A great, fun challenge in the corners and  when you get the cornering right it can almost keep up through them. With manual clutch at the start if fires off like a rocket. Fun to drive in a wide manner, if you dare - it can easily go around you. I like the big, heavy, bulky feeling for some reason.

What are your setup tips for this car?

I drive standard setup. Tweak the fuel amount for racing.

What driving style do you use for this car?

It has to be driven a bit wide. I throw it a bit into the corners, only to shoot it out of them again a wee bit sideways. It looses time but lets me sort of throw the car in the right direction quickly and letting the slide slow it down. Difficult to explain. I drive it aggressively, maybe.

Whats your best lap time with this car on any circuit?

No idea.

Downsides with the car?

Tire wear

Interesting post Delanvital - I might have to give the old falcon a try  :)

Which car do you drive the most?

E-Type

Why is this your favourite car?

Cos the mailman aint delivered my full copy of GTL yet, so I'm running the demo. The other choices are the Elan (too girlie) and the Corvette (totally undriveable with my limited experience).

What are your setup tips for this car?

Keep it vanilla.

What driving style do you use for this car?

Bully and bravado. Lots of sliding around on tight ones.

Whats your best lap time with this car on any circuit?

Soon as I finish a lap I'll let you know  :D

You're the only driver I know who has been lapped and beaten to the chequered flag by the Safety Car :roflmao:

Having played the game more, and unlocked some of the cars *I don't use the hack* I now also like the Cortina, the Falcons a barge but fun, but I've just shelled out for the Alfa - wow what a beautiful noise from that Boxer engine - I will have to start practising with it  :)
