Well, I had fun on teh Hook last night, but one of the things that came out was the problem with shortcuts. Oldie can't get his to work either so it may be a 'bug' or 'undocumented feature' that we need to work round in due course. For the moment I would recommend just connecting via steam.

One tip that worked hugely for me was when a connection failed (no child error message), go into the steam directory and delete the ClientRegistry.blob file. Then re-run steam and it works - at least it did for me!

I don't think steam will allow you to connect like that any more.

On the plus side, the server handling is vastly improved. Favourites have their own seperate tab and you can fire off a game just by d/clicking a server.

And I'm happy that I've managed to get voice comms working again! Yay :lol:

Mine looks the same FATAL and all it does is drop me into console.

I'll have a play with it today to see if I can get it working (dropping the -console is the first thing to try).

Interesting, if you try and join the hook using your old game icon it says something about a LAN CS server being restricted to a class C network.

Yes that was the problem I had. But I was also able to connect through steam. Well done all who have been involved in the horrendous nightmare that was the steam upgrade to our servers!!

48hrs without sleep (for oldie, nightmares and bed pissing) yes that was worthit so valve can make some more MONEEEY
